Hey Kim, thanks for that mention of the forum on periscope. It seems that we're getting a lot of new members today!

I found you all by accident searching for a breakdown of the changes BF made to teh Wizard of Oz. Been flirting with the Big Finish Listeners FB group, but I just don't want to do this on FB.

I can't agree that BF should be the subject of my annoyance, though. I presume this is because they closed down their forums? As a fan of Doctor Who for a long time, I've seen how unpleasant online fans can sometimes be. As a small company, I can understand that BF can't devote their time to dealing with such people. I'd much prefer them to use the time to produce more lovely audios anyway!

The issue most of us have had with BF closing the forums, was not the actual closure, but the way and time they choose to do it.

Did they choose to close the forums at a certain time, or was it just that spammers (and trollish posts) got too much for them to handle?

Did they choose to close the forums at a certain time, or was it just that spammers (and trollish posts) got too much for them to handle? I had a few chats with Ian about it and the reason I got - and he stressed this was THE reason and there was no ulterior motive - was that moderating was becoming a much bigger job than BF could handle. Because they're licenced to protect the integrity of properties by the BBC and others, appointing fan mods wasn't an option. The arguments, complaints and admin reports were a LOT worse when the new series was on air and the decision to pull the plug at the same time at Series 9 starting was no co-incidence. The decision to pull the plug with no notice was to ensure that the froum exploding in anger wouldn't overshadow Big Finish Day 7 and lead to disgruntled confrontations. I don't think that was the right move and that a weeks notice of closure with explanations AFTER BF Day would have been a better move. But...20/20 hindsight and all that!

No. Seriously. Were they annoyed we sprang up? Face book is easy to ignore and twitter is like shouting in a pub...
But we are... basically their old forum.
But with out their admin problems.

Ian was more than happy about it when I spke to him, Kenny posts here as do a few other BF creatives. Kris Griffin even plugged the forum the other day.
I don't see a reason why they'd have any issue, and haven't had an inkling from anyone that they do. We're still promoting, discussing and - usually - promotig their products. If there's any criticism it comes from a good, constructive place and isn't nasty or spiteful.

It would interesting to how much more Ian and Joe get done everyday now without the added strain on their "time and good will". BTW What was Kris's response to the Forum exactly? Regards mark687
