I hope this film does release next year. I want to see it.

The new K9 design was unveiled this weekend during the Capitol II event, so I guess this is still happening. I believe this is the first news we have since the original announcement, am I right? I guess we'll learn more about it come October (or, rather, a bit earlier), since that's when the anniversary is.

Ugh I'd forgotten this was a thing. On the plus side if it does happen that might end the annual 'Omega's returning' nonesense rumours

I swear there was already a children's book written about K9 vs. Omega floating around out there somewhere, also written by Bob Baker... *dig* *dig* *dig* Nope, it was written by Dave Martin. K9 and the Time Trap with the enemy in question being "Omegon". K9's an agent of the Time Lords in these, weirdly prefiguring his being "off on assignment" in other stories featuring Gallifrey. It's quite likely. But Omega was redesigned already once anyway. Well, twice really if you count Search for the Doctor's illustration of him.

The new K9 looks awful. Why did they have to change his look again? Did they learn nothing from the Australian spinoff?

The new K9 looks awful. Why did they have to change his look again? Did they learn nothing from the Australian spinoff? Well, as it's technically not a Doctor Who spinoff production wise*, I think they've done a good job adapting the concept for modern audiences. (I'm talking about the film here, not the series, which, to be quite honest, I didn't think it was as bad as many seem to think it was. In my defence, I'll say I grew up watching the Power Rangers, which are also Australian productions and the format is very similar, so I guess nostalgia might have been a factor.) *Speaking of which, leaving the question of the quality of the film aside, wouldn't it be great if Capaldi did a small cameo at the end or something, since it's the 40th anniversary of the character's first appearance on Doctor Who? I know, it'll never happen, but a man can dream.

Tom Baker would probably be a more fitting cameo though given he was The Doctor at the time.

This looks like a slight redesign of the one that appeared in the spinoff tv series.
As with that show, this movie will be a pass. I could careless, though I am fairly certain that I'm a few decades out of the target audience.

I enjoy the TV series for what it is, and I have a lot of love for K-9 so I'll see this, though I expect it will be close in tone to the TV series.
And speaking of Doctors, I have thought, ever since Capaldi started his era, that Twelve and K-9 would be a brilliant combo.

Talking of K9 redesigns, here's a CGI one from 1998 for a forestalled television series. A different pedigree, shall we say.

K9 would have played nicely off 12's grumpy exterior.

I wish I had Bob Baker’s confidence. A K9 tv series falls flat on its face, his K9 movie isn’t made despite announcing it, and his reaction is to declare a K9 universe that he compares to Guardians of the Galaxy. If he does want K9 to take off, I think he’s going about it the wrong way. K9 works better as a comedic figure than an action movie star.

It was officially announced today at Vworp and so i can give a bit more context. Basically the reason why its taken so long is disney and they wanted to wait out the contract . Apparently they have more control over this new series and are planning on bringing omega as well as axons into the frame with hopefully some classic characters thrown in too.
Also fun fact: apparently for the australian k9 series they wanted robbie williams as k9...which is...umm...interesting.
Anyways will be nice to see more doctor who spin off material if its good so we shall see.

Hello again.
"ONE OF HUMAN BEINGS INTRUIGING FLAWS IS BOUNDLESS OPTIMISM IN THE FACE OF AN IMPOSSIBLE CHANCE OF SUCCESS," said K9.

Apparently Philip Martin announced at Vworp that he’s trying to make a Sil movie. Now the K9 Timequake franchise doesn’t seem so ridiculous.

From what was said on the pannel he only said those two saying they wanted to create a load of new monsters. There was actually an onega design put up that i dont know if had been released before but i didnt snap it up sadly.

I wonder what deeply disturbing woman-into-inhuman-creature transformation we'll see depicted in a way that seems like Philip Martin's enjoying it way too much this time? After Creed of the Kromon, I've no interest in anything he puts out.
