Interesting premise, a not often used location, new writer, great director and gorgeous cover. What's not to look forward to?

These covers are visually striking, this sounds like a good one.

And I'll keep mentioning this until the audio comes out, take a little time and learn about the Night Witches. One of the best stories of WWII.

Interesting that Elliot Chapman now gets top billing, rather than under 'featuring'.

Interesting that Elliot Chapman now gets top billing, rather than under 'featuring'. Yes, that's very good to see. He was excellent in 'The Bonfires of the Vanities' and 'Plague of Dreams' on the recent First Doctor CCs; as Ben, as the Doctor, as a mysterious Player and various other characters - and he shared the narration. Thanks to his great performances, BF now have the opportunity not only to do Second Doctor EAs with Jamie/Doctor, Polly and Ben but First Doctor/Ben and Polly EAs too (and more CCs in due course.) I do hope they will take advantage of this.

They kind of needed to add Ben and Polly into the first Doctor EA mix with William Russell no longer working for Big Finish. I still hope that they manage to do a season 0 (what I call pre-Unearthly Child stories) EA at some point with Ford, so that she's not left out.

That's too bad, but I suppose I should simply be grateful that he kept at it for so long.

Does anyone know when & where that was announced? - How did I miss that news?? I mean, this is Ian Chesterton we're talking about, one of the four who were there in that legendary junkyard and started it all! William Russell is a person of such significance to 'Doctor Who' (beside all his other roles) that I'd have thought a major 'Our heartfelt thanks for half a century of great Ian/Doctor performances' would have been in order if he retired.

Wonder how this will affect the next season of Early Adventures, because with William Russell unavailable anything before Vicki and Steven is off the table unless there's a pre-Unearthly Child story. Shame really, as the new Barbara didn't get much of a chance to shine and develop in Age of Endurance or Fifth Traveler.

The Early Adventures Series 3 was in the can a long, long time before release and I think that's the last time he was in. He's still doing cons though, so isn't completely out the Who-world. He'll be 93 in a few months. I think he's earned a retirement many times over by now.

I think it was Maureen who said it in passing, saying she "enjoys working with Peter, and Russell when he was doing them" or something like that. As for why no announcement - they might just be hoping they'll get him back at some point and don't want to make it a big deal.

We are lucky to have so many great BF stories from the actors who were part of those earliest years, it's a real privilege.

Everyone was talking about it on the forums after Maureen mentioned that Russ wasn't doing them anymore, so I asked Jason Haigh-Ellery about it point blank at Chicago TARDIS last year, and he confirmed it. He wouldn't say why. He just said "we do not have William Russell working with us right now, but we always hope that he'll change his mind and do more with us in the future."

I saw William at a convention back in November, and he said although he hadn't done any BF recently he loved doing them and hoped to do more soon.

Love the cover, really great premise from a not often discussed part of WW2 history...
But, I wonder if I'm the only one who was in a rush and misread the title, making the story sound more like a story about rappers.
