What do we all think of Bill Potts' guilty pleasure Little Mix?
I like their music. Very catchy, and they have great voices too. I saw them at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre at what is now last night and they are phenomenal live. A LOT better than on radio or on TV.
I think Bill Potts has good taste. What about you? And what do we think the Doctor's guilty pleasure is?

Well we know he likes Ian Dury and The Blockheads but seeing as he wasn't trying to hide the fact and nowhere near as embarrassed as Bill was, it's a tricky one to pin down. He certainly likes his classical and 50's R&R, both good tastes and he's not afraid to display it. Maybe he secretly likes farces on stage as he sang to himself, 'I Want to be Happy' from the play, 'No, No, Nanette' in Doctor Who's 'Black Orchid'.

It's possible that each incarnation of the Doctor has their own guilty pleasure just like they have their own quirks too. I could imagine the First Doctor being secretly a fan of some form of Earth culture given how long he spent on our planet before beginning his adventures. The Beatles could be a long-running guilty pleasure. The Doctor has visited them numerous times in expanded media despite otherwise barely mentioning them, and of course he watches them perform on the Time-Space Visualiser with his companions in The Chase.

The thing is, I find it hard to think of The Beatles as a guilty pleasure as they're globally massive in popularity and not many people would squirm at the thought of admitting they like The Beatles. You either do or you don't.
There's something that has run through almost every Doctor though and that is his love of classical music.

The fifth Doctor gushes about the Beatles in Fanfare for the Common Men so I don't think it's a guilty-pleasure, he's quite open about it. As for Little Mix, I can't really judge as I don't listen to chart music really.

Bill clearly squirmed at the fact it was made public and her friends mocked her. Nobodys ever done that over a band like the Beatles.

It is very hard to judge. They are massive in America, but only time will tell as to whether they achieve the same historical status as the Beatles.

The Beatles were (a) good, (b) in the right places at the right times, (c) hitting a mass audience that was captive to a few, very few radio stations and television stations. No new act, even with the global reach of the internet, can do that now. And even simpler? They were first of their type to do that. It's who was the 20th person to climb Everest syndrome. You can find out but it isn't important.

I don't know anything about business, but that was my interpretation from Philip Norman's take on the band members.

Well if you are judging popularity by record (CD/Download now) sales, it will be no contest! Little Mix have a long way to go before they get anywhere near what The Beatles shipped globally.
