Synopsis “Ladies and gentlemen, we apologise again for the difficulties we’ve been having. If you’ll excuse the expression, it seems we have a ghost in the machine...”
40 years ago, the paranormal television show Beyond the Grave broadcast a very special Halloween episode - live from Collinsport, Maine. Presenters Tom Lacey and Kate Ripperton introduced the nation to the legend of 'Mad Jack', the local fisherman who had reportedly haunted the town's cemetery for over six decades.
The terrifying events that followed have become infamous. Suppressed and denied by the authorities, the episode was thought lost forever... until now.
Now, for the first time in forty years, you can hear the true horror of that fateful night in Collinsport...

Review from American Psycho issue #173: Having been a fan of British paranormal investigation show Beyond the Grave, I've always wanted to see what finally put it in the grave, along with the career of Kate Ripperton (whatever happened to her?). Now Big Finish has located the tapes forty years later, I was listening in rapt attention. One, two, three, four, five.
And it's a corker. The atmosphere never lets up. Once I caught a fish alive. But it's so violent, poor Andy and that Jim chap seemed so nice. Six, seven eight nine ten.
What was that Bigged Lipped Alligator moment with the Hartswood guy? It came out of nowhere and was never explained. Then I let it go again.
This is the Beyond the Grave you've been waiting for and deserve. Unless you've been a bad girl.
Be sure to check out the indexes for the various Big Finish ranges!
I really enjoyed this one up to a point (about 3/4 of the way through), then all the manic shouting, screaming and static got a bit much for me and I started to lose concentration and became somewhat lost
Blooming heck! That was chilling it had it all. Kathryn Leigh Scott was superb equalling Nancy Barrett performance in Flipside. I just cannot get these women staying around this town personally i would nuke it from orbit, just to be safe 😝 You dont get this sort of acting in any series especially not Who. Great tale absolute chiller
