I've preordered this on the Bandcamp site, and have been given the first few tracks as a 'taster'. It is incredibly good. Even these few openers are drenched with the kind of foreboding that made the film so memorable.
I just got an email letting me know that the CD has shipped!
I really liked it although I think any production would miss the massive performances of Patrick Wymark and James Hayter. They were so fruity yet perfect in their roles and Wymark in the last scene in slow-mo....one of the best scenes in horror. I saw a review that said this played more like a Hammer version than the original and I think that's fair. It doesn't quite have the folk-horror of the film but more a gothic take on it. Losing the visuals that Piers and Dick captured probably explains that. The score on the Bafflegab one is terrific. Absolutely stunning.
The film is getting a 4K master and a new bluray which I cannot wait for.
