Tindersticks (the second album) by Tindersticks. This 1995 album followed the first album, also called Tindersticks from a couple of years earlier. I had this on in the background once when a friend came to visit. "Gaw," he said. "This is a bit depressing isn't it?" He was right. It is. But gloriously so. One of the joys of spending New Year's Eve in enforced isolation is that I can listen to whatever I like, and this deeply melancholy collection is curiously fitting considering the year we've had - but strangely uplifting too.
Happy New Year, all.

Styx - Paradise Theatre Styx - Kilroy was Here With a name like that they ought to have done an album with Mick n Keef. Would have made a 'cracking' hybrid band name. Must look them up sometime as I have not heard them. They seem pretty prolific.

At work, watching "that" news on the live feed, I had the 1st R.A.T.M. album on (low volume).. Finishing up the 2nd album "Evil Empire" (still low volume LOL).

I don't know why I didn't think to mention it sooner but if anyone likes Yes, one Yesfan took a bunch of the unofficial recordings that the band allows us to trade and share legally and put them up a cloud, but as I understand it they're going to start charging the site owner a fortune for the cloud service in June or July so he'll be letting it go by then.

David Bowie - A Reality Tour. Can't believe its been 5 years since he passed. I saw that tour in 2003 at the Glasgow SECC, on Doctor WHo's 40th Birthday, the 23rd November. Was a great night, last night of the tour - we didn't obviously know it'd be the last tour ever.

Wish i had gotten to see him, loved him for most of my life, his use of characters to tell unique stories in different albums was and always will be so unique. Such an amazing artist.

My 1st memory of Bowie was the "Ashes to Ashes" music clip being shown as a new release on tv. Co-incidentally my twin brother found on youtube over the weekend, Bowie's 1st concert in Australia (started in our hometown for some reason!) in 1976(?) and then his next tour 1983. He did tour here in the early 2000's. my best mate went, I didn't I still regret it.

My first memory was probably ashes to ashes the tv show, also on the telly In a way i suppose im glad i didn’t get the chance (unless i was going to go when i was 1 ) so i suppose i don’t have that regret but still, even watching tour clips i can tell it would have been amazing. Ah well, at least we have the clips i suppose.

He did tour here in the early 2000's. my best mate went, I didn't I still regret it. That's the same tour we're talking about, "A Reality Tour" - he did Aus and NZ then a couple of Asian dates then quite a lot of dates in the US before finishing (for the final tour ever) in Europe. If it sounds like I'm a bit geeky about knowing this, it's literally because I wore the hell out of the tour t-shirt I got when I saw him and it had all the dates on the back so I saw the dates every time I washed it! Plus, my signature here has been a Bowie quote since the forum started. At the time, Bowie was another "tick" off my bucket list...I didnt know he'd never tour again or I'd have tried to get to a few more dates across the UK. Luckily there is a DVD from the tour, just called A Reality Tour which going by the gig I saw which was recorded a week later, is an excellent representation of the event. It's a recommended document of that tour, absolutely. Before the tour there was also a big event simulcast from a small London concert, where cinemas across the globe showed Bowie live, and he did a Q&A with the people in the cinemas on the other side of the world. Seemed mind-blowingly high tech even in 2003. Now it'd be a live-stream and a tweet, my granny could do that! So, yeah, anyone who missed that last time with Bowie, this is a damn good stand in:
