www.youtube.com/watch?v=o83uriMyqw8Just came home from seeing "Mortiis" live.. performing his 1st album from 1994 "Født til å herske" He started out as the bass player of 1 of the most influential Norwegian Black Metal bands- left and went solo basically creating "Dungeon Synth" or "Dark Dungeon Music".. All synthesizers.. 2nd tour of Australia in the last 4 years.. Just think of it as "Lord Of The Rings" music or background music when playing Dungeons & Dragons. Nice

Just in time for Passion Week, the next album on the list is St. Matthew Passion by Bach.
I get that Bach is very important to music history but having listened to several of his works in a row they just don't do anything for me. They're just nice background noise but not something I would sit and listen to on my own outside of this marathon.

Okay, now that my schedule is changing back to what it once was I can start listening to full albums again at work without interruption.
That means I'm going to play catch up today and see what I can knock off the list.
First up is the Goldberg Variations by Bach. Perhaps one of his better works that I've listened to for this marathon, but its still very... hmmmm... how do I put this... indistinctive; as in I can't remember any of the melodies even though I just listened to the same melody played 32 different ways in a row. Bach really is the definition of background music to me. He's like the elevator jazz of classical music.

Second album of the day is Handel's Messiah. Perfect for the holiday season.
I have a soft spot for this work. We preformed in my middle school chorus and I got the "Come Unto Him" solo. It still remember all the words and will sing it from time to time.
Plus there's the iconic Hallelujah chorus that everyone knows.
This is easily the best album on the list so far.

The last album today is Bach's Mass in B minor. It's also, thankfully, the last Bach album on the list.

Well I'm finally done with Bach, but next up on the DMDB list is a whole bunch of Mozart works, the first of which is Piano Concerto No. 9 in E flat major.
Eh... it's better than Bach but I'm still not the biggest Mozart fan. Lets see if the next nine albums change my mind.

So yesterday I listed to Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) by Mozart and today I watched an English version. While it's listed as an opera, I would categorize it more as an operetta due to the use of spoken dialogue though out. The English version especially reminds me of a proto Gilbert and Sullivan play.
I also listened to the next album today which was Mozart's Symphony No. 35., including the deleted March. Which was pretty but less interesting then the above.

Today was the first of many Mozart's piano concertos on the list. Piano Concerto No. 19 in F major.

Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23
No clue what happened to 22. I guess it just didn't make the list along with the others.

Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24
Which is the last of Mozart's piano concertos on the list, but certainly not the last Mozart work on the list. Not by a long shot.

Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 Which is the last of Mozart's piano concertos on the list, but certainly not the last Mozart work on the list. Not by a long shot.
Question for you :
Have you seen the 80's movie Amadeus? I saw it as a new release back then I was definitely between 7-10 years of age at the time and didn't appreciate it.. I should watch it again.
I just recall seeing the lead actor in "Animal House" a typical college s#x romp movie.. then straight to this serious epic .

We watched it in music class like in middle school or high school. I remember bits and pieces of it, and I remember that wasn't too particularly impressed with it at the time. I haven't seen it since.

Continuing on, today was Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. I kind of liked the other Mozart opera we had earlier better.
Also I've decided just to seek out English versions of any operas when available from now on. Just to make it a little easier on myself.

Mozart's Don Giovanni
Unfortunately I couldn't find an English version of this one so it wound up just being background music.
