A lovely atmospheric little tale that it self-contained yet opens up the possibility for so many other stories. The scene with Maggie and Nathan watching over the ghostly children playing is very spooky, aided by Joseph Fox's haunting music. A nice touch from the original series, specifically the final present day arc, is Carolyn's weak second sight.
As for further possibilities, the original Nathan Hawkins. His journal records such amazing things, did he really see and do what was in there? It's always nice seeing what goes on outside of Collinsport and the regular cast of characters.

This is nothing short of a beautiful, touching story - especially that scene you mention, which is a highlight of anything I've ever heard - with two stellar performances, and some achingly melancholy music from Joseph Fox. This is one of those stories I feel *everybody* should hear. Wonderful, rich storytelling and production detail.

The top three are easily the first ghost scene, Maggie and the First Widow, and Maggie and Nathan at the end.

What's interesting is that this story provides a precise date, the 2nd of November on a Tuesday. Thus the story takes place in 1971 explicitly.
