Hmm... if this is set in Germany at the end of the war... is it too much to hope for a setting in the small town next to my home village? The SS was hiding out in the town church, shooting the arriving allies from the church towers (according to the above mentioned order from the Führer).
The population was scared- but some brave citizens marched up to the SS troops with spanners and pitchforks and managed to disarm them and chase them away.
So the citizens could hang some white bed sheets from the church towers and therefore stop more bloodshed and destruction.
Would be awesome hearing this story in BF! With Sixie no less.
And I REALLY hope for some better German accents. Although they did quite well in recent releases with hiring German speaking actors. BF does not really have the best track record with some of the accents they attempt....
Thanks for sharing that - including that sort of event would make a great story, what brave people! A good reminder that there were citizens caught up in "the Reich" who never wanted Nazi rule. (It's notable reading Churchill's speeches that he usually made that distinction by referring to 'Nazis', not 'Germans' - and of course he wanted free Germany back in the European family as quickly as possible after the war even though some in Europe objected.) I agree this sort of story would be a great one, even if it's not the one Chris is telling here. And as we've just seen in the cinema with JoJo Rabbit there are no end to the creative ways to tell a massively fictionalised, fantastical story that manages to be very real to the human spirit and be about people who were also victims of the brutality of fascism in a different way to the traditional sort of WW2 story. Which isn't to trivialise any other type of anti-Nazi story be it about the survivors of the holocaust or about the Allies but it's an important time, with the sad state of a lot of the world, to remind ourselves that light can be found even in the darkest of places at the blackest of times. Also....it's Chris Chapman so I'm 100% on board regardless One of the best BFers in recent years for my money and, well, any of us who are into the bluray range can't help but be a bit biased by his gorgeous new documentaries there either, the JNT Showman one being most recent in my thoughts..

The design of these covers just seem to be getting better and better don’t they? 🙂 All props to the artists. We've come a long way from things like this, haven't we? Got to admit I was put off by the early covers when they came out. Judging a book by the cover indeed. And I quite liked the Black Sheep VHS covers and BBC books. Sounds superficial of me, but I started buying with Storm Warning & Chimes of Midnight, not just because it was Paul McGann, but you could see they had put a lot of effort into the whole package. Or maybe they had just invested in some decent software since then, which wasn't as affordable in 1999...

Probably a combination of success + experience + not wanting to make the first new stories with the current Doctor look silly. I don't think Apocalypse Element or Holy Terror are too bad, though. Thankfully I didn't have any problem being put off by covers because I hopped aboard in 2013 so they'd got all that sorted out by then. I think my favorite early days BF covers are the comic book Benny ones from Series 3+

Well, several of McGann's stories, especially of the Divergent arc, have absolutely dreadful covers. However, Caerdroia and Natural History of Fear are really great stories! If you can get over how awful the cover art is... I think this is part how I learned not to judge a book by it's cover.

BF have already touched on the view from 'the other side' with a Sixie/Constance story in ST 'The Darkened Earth' of course - maybe that's (with the artwork) what made me think that maybe this one might also be from that POV? And would be especially interesting with Constance on board. One thing we know of the Doctor - he'll always fight evil and help good people and good causes anywhere, anytime; labels and 'sides' are irrelevant. (One of many assumptions I'm making is that 'Scorched Earth' is a Sixie pure historical. It might not be, but Colin Baker said he liked them and so far we've only had 'The Behemoth'. Great story it is too, but I want more!)
Agree so much about the bluray docs, they're superb. I also loved 'The Middle' and 'Iron Bright' and I think his Wirrn story is one of the very best New UNIT adventures - I listened to it three times in a row when it came out! That was another one where I invested quite a few hopes for what his story might do - and it did. A New UNIT story which also had the Old UNIT vibe imo, I could imagine it relatively unchanged with the 70s UNIT family slotting into the roles. So 'Scorched Earth' is one I'm especially looking forward to. Come to that, I've thought that about quite a few of the MR recently. We're in another great run imo.

I know Darren Jones - organizes a big kids writers networking event at Christmas that I've been to a few times. Nice fella, glad to see him over here.

Astonishingly good work across the board. There's so much detail and colour packed into each one. Cry of the Vultriss was the first time that I've looked at a cover (any cover, I think) and thought: This would look mindblowing on holographic card.

That cover is a perfect mix of creepy and fun. Big Finish covers seem to get better each year.

I hope that one of the changes Big Finish introduces for the monthly range are trilogy subscriptions.
If they were available I would now have these Sixth Doctor adventures on order.

Glad to see Katarina Olsson is in it. I thought it was said a while ago that she had given up acting, maybe I'm misremembering or else she has made a comeback.

With currently the final release, number 275, less than a year away I thought we would have some news by now regarding the future of the main/monthly range.
I still believe that the plan will be to go to monthly download and then put multiple releases in a physical boxset, however where I was expecting the trilogy approach to continue, I now suspect they will go the Fourth Doctor route and have two releases in each physical set. Which would then mean a quicker turn around of Doctors in the main range and would thus give each Doctor two box sets every year.
Just my current expectation, but it will be interesting to find out what Big Finish have planned.
Of course the current uncertainties may well have made them reconsider their plans.
