Yes very cowardly behaviour from BF. I didn't say that. I know you didn't. I did.

It's been about two months since we've had a new Main Range release. ... and just when they'd got people in to the habit of calling it a monthly range! And now it is neither. No longer the front page draw, it seems. Relegated to the smaller box labelled 'the classics' on the Gastro-pub menu, for those who don't like anything too ambitious or fancy sounding. Where Onion Rings cost extra.

I'd never thought of it like that. It's quite sad, really. For what it's worth, the 'monthly range' has probably been my consistently favourite BF range. Not everything has met with my tastes, but it has been a trust-worthy supply of regular Doctor Who stories - and I can remember how valuable that was when BF first started! If every new Classic Doctor release is to be on box-set form, then I'm sure the quality will still be there, so there's no problem. Perhaps the traditionalist in me already misses the old - but then, every new tradition has to start somewhere

And it isn't. Jesus the pot stirring around of one individual. Sorry I am not pot stirring I just think it is cowardly, I don't believe the reason for the delay.

Yep!
On a personal note, I've been gagging for Big Finish to 'tackle' Lovecraft - either as adaptions of his stories, or a 'Doctor Who meets...' type of thing. Now we have one, it seems to have been confined to TBA hell!
Yes very cowardly behaviour from BF. He says based on literally no information.

Yes very cowardly behaviour from BF. I don't think it was BF necessarily. Could also have been the BBC trying to do some damage control/ brand protection in the face of the ongoing protests. That might also explain the last minute decision to postpone.

True. I just feel the reason seems like one of those phrases they use to cover up the real reason. Like when a band split due to "musical differences". I'm annoyed as it is one of the releases I was really looking forward to.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if Lovecraft has to be delayed for whatever reason or other, can they not just skip ahead to releasing the next story instead? I thought they were far enough ahead in recording that it would be doable.
I agree with the sentiment that the Main Range losing its flagship status is pretty sad, really. It was nice to have one ongoing monthly series with a good mix of Doctors instead of everything splintered off into its own little box set. Ah, well.

Well it makes more sense to just skip a month than to completely change the schedule for the range when people have already preordered and subscribed ahead. They can just slip The Lovecraft Invasion into the schedule wherever when it’s ready. The July release, Time Apart is still due out this month, it’s just not been released yet.

I think Audio Watchdog said "nearly two months" since the last one and it threw me off, thinking we'd skipped two releases. So yes, that situation is basically what I meant, so that answers that.

We've all gotten used to BF releasing their Doctor Who content the second week of the month. I know I did, and I didn't even realize it. But it is now July 24 , the end of the 3rd week in July and we haven't had a MR release since the second week in May. Now, I'm having a hard time with this because 1) The Lovecraft story was one I was anticipating immensely and 2) I am going through some serious Classic Doctor withdrawal. Every Tues, Wed and Thurs mornings for the last 2 weeks I've woken up, grabbed my phone and went right to the BF app to see if Time Apart has been released yet. I was pleased with Robots this morning, but actually a little disappointed that I didn't see Peter's face on my phone first thing in the am.

I'm annoyed as it is one of the releases I was really looking forward to. Seeing as JHD hasn’t tried to back this up any further or responded to my previous posts, I’ll go a bit further. If you don’t believe the reason given, then that’s entirely up to you. But saying ‘very cowardly decision by BF’ implies that you know what the reason is. And you don’t. You’ve taken a wild guess at a reason (which is likely completely wrong) and made a judgement as a result. Which is, as I hope you’ll agree, very very silly.

Well Regardless The Lovecraft Invasion will be out at the end of July according to the Big Finish Podcast (probably alongside Time Apart)

The latest podcast suggests we may get the download of The Lovecraft Invasion soon.
I think that implies that there’s been some work done to it and material has been edited, so the download will be ready but the CD’s will need to be repressed. It can’t have been an issue with the recording, otherwise the delay would’ve happened far earlier, and it can’t have been an issue with the CD’s, as the download would’ve still gone out, amid Big Finish’s warehouse backlog.
I don’t think we’ll never know what actual edits have been made, but I think it’s safe to say that it relates to the story content.

Well, then it looks as if they have rectified the problem and all is well. Looking forward to it!

Its a real shame that we wont likely hear the Original Unedited Version of The Lovecraft Invasion if thats the case.
