36 Technically Regards mark687 You're more patient than me Mark!
I'll be checking my account right on the chimes of midnight and drafting a furious complaint letter by 00:01... We don't want the Monthly Range (I got it right for once) to end its days as the "Maybe" Range do we? By 00:01 the letter was not required - I'm almost convinced that BF read every word we say...

And it's only a few short months since the MR presented us with a nasty French Resistance member and gave some Nazi invaders of France and a Nazi collaborator an easy ride (I thought so at least.) And told us firmly how wrong Constance was to 'hate' them for what they had done. 'It was so easy to have enemies and blame them and hate them.'
Almost everyone seemed to think it was not only acceptable but made for better drama...
There's been two Constance stories with War perspectives that show a lot of depth to a War that used a lot of propaganda and brainwashing. Even as a Jew I know there were villages and possibly even individual soldiers who either weren't aware of how evil Hitler was or were terrified to stand up to him until they were told to do something repugnant. I thought SE and (The Darkened Earth?) were excellent tales and very well done. I love scorched earth. And the Constancs short trip was perfect. But SE might feel... a little off if it was released yesterday. Likewise even though the Klein stories always aggressively condemned Fascism, Nazism, and Klein herself I might be uncomfortable if the sequels to Colditz came out today. I really like the Klein stories too. especially her most recent appearance. But sometimes I need an escape. T There are multiple things going on in the news that could make people think of the Lovecraft release. If the only noticeable change is Sixie telling a bigoted author off properly then I see it as a solid positive! It's also very in character for Sixie. An

If the only noticeable change is Sixie telling a bigoted author off properly then I see it as a solid positive! It's also very in character for Sixie. An As a side note: That was something I found compelling about Harry Houdini's War from the last trilogy. Harry approaches his escapades abroad as though he's in a Boys' Own adventure with some very clear cut ideals. White hats vs. black hats. The truth of his situation, however, is a lot more complicated and that grey reality is the lens through which we see most of the story. Enough that there are moments where he almost comes across like Don Quixote of the Second World War, like when he tries to mow down the Doctor during his escape. We get some really nice (and quite frank) commentary about "derring-do" heroism from there; i.e. the solutions of a typical Rat Patrol-style action hero in contrast to the Doctor's moral explorer. Lyons is very good at balancing that ethical grey area, discussing the ambiguity of war, without diluting the shock of it or the evils of those who perpetuate it. It's a recurring theme in his work.

Hmm... The December release, The Grey Man of the Mountain, features Jon Culshaw as the Brigadier. Now I find the anti-recast inside vying with the completist in me (with the Main Range is concluding it seems a shame not to get every title). I think the fact it's written by Lisbeth Myles will sway me to get it - but I hope the mimicry doesn't distract too much from the drama!

Am I right that the announcement of these 2, in addition to the previously announced-but-postponed The Lost Resort and Perils & Nightmares, mean there is now only 1 MR story still to be announced?

Unless Lost Resort and Perils & Nightmares get held over and popped into a boxset, leaving us room for one final trilogy?

Hmmm. The Grey Man of the Mountain intrigues me. Been saying for a while that they should do a Christmas ghost story.
I’m hoping that considering last years Blood on Santa’s Claw and now this announcement that we will have more festive releases going forward.

Yes, The Grey Man of the Mountain is a definite purchase for me. A Christmas ghost story is something I'm always happy to listen to, and looking at the cast list (so far), it looks to be especially memorable.

It's nice to see some classic Doctors other than Eight getting some Christmas episodes for a change.
By the way, I wonder if BF will ever try and do a Christmas episode for Nine given he's the only NuWho Doctor who has never had any.

That was one of the thoughts that went through my head when his run of stories were announced. A story in his third box set out in November 2021 would be the favourite candidate.

I know it’s not technically a Christmas episode, but given that it’s set at Christmas, I tend to think of The Unquiet Dead as his Christmas episode. Though it would be nice to have a full-on Christmas story with him.
