Bafflegab have announced they will be dramatising Clive Barker's 'The Hellbound Heart', which the 1980s horror film 'Hellraiser' is based on. Due for release early 2018. bafflegab.co.uk/news/I've only seen the film, and that was a long time ago, what's the book like? |

It's a good 30 or so years since I read The Hellbound Heart, so I would be hard pressed to remember what the book is like. Still, 1980s Clive Barker was an absolute force. This has shot right up my most anticipated list and I'll be pre-ordering it soon.

Unfortunately, neither this nor Blood on Satan's Claw can be ordered yet - but it's pleasing to see Bafflegab pursuing some interesting properties. They may be in discussion on others as well, who can say?

This is huge news for me, massive Clive Barker fan here. Hopefully this is just the start of many such adaptations. The Harry D'Amour short stories The Last Illusion and The Lost Souls would be highly recommended, and having introduced Harry on audio would then naturally allow for an adaptation of The Scarlet Gospels as well.
The Books of Blood are full of stories that could be adapted well for audio, and as far as his other, longer form, works, The Damnation Game would be my top pick. Things like Weaveworld, Imajica, and The Great and Secret Show are fantastic, but given their length and complexity would be difficult adaptations for audio. Something like Mister B. Gone could be really interesting adapted to audio format, too. Lots of possibilities, so hopefully this does well.

I usually stick purely to download options these days, but had to have the CD version of this one, being a big Clive Barker fan and collector from back in the day.
I look forward to the end of April release date.

All Bafflegab material I've purchased on CD via Bandcamp have also had a download available I've got all the other Bafflegab releases on download, but for Hellbound Heart as it's just £3 extra to get a CD thought I'd be extravagant and splash out the additional three-hundred pence. Thanks chaps, have pre-ordered. |
