Fair enough you sent him an email, Nathan/audio, didnt doubt that but as a fan Nick must have had that idea already percolating for years surely? Hasn't every long term fan since the 80's had the same idea about an earlier version of the Master rocking around the universe? I know I have.

I choose to see this like the A Rebellion Reborn set for Blake's 7, an alternate interpretation of familiar characters.

For me, and I don't say this in a bad way, this is Big Finish cashing in on a lot of new series fans for whom David Bradley is the First Doctor and may never have experienced Hartnell's portrayal. Artistically and financially this is a good move from Big Finish, but as a fan of the Classic Series and one who enjoys listening to the original actors give their performances (even if they don't sound exactly the same as they did 50 years ago) I'm on the fence as to whether it's right for me. Part of the enjoyment for me is that most Big Finish feels like a continuation of the Classic Series with the same actors. This feels like a continuation of the New Series, which just happens to feature the First Doctor.
The only thing that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me is why cast lookalikes in an audio production. For An Adventure in Space and Time on TV it was obviously necessary to get people who look like the characters they were playing, and within the context of that drama it was fine. No one expected them to look or sound identical to their counterparts, but they were necessary parts to tell the story of the origins of Doctor Who. Without any disrespect to the actors themselves, none of them sound particularly like the original actors, Bradley included, who, although having the mannerisms of Hartnell down pat (if a little exaggerated sometimes), doesn't have the voice of Hartnell.
It confuses me that they didn't go down the route of Tim Treloar/Elliott Chapman in recasting soundalikes, but I guess that part of the appeal of this series is that it uses the actors that a lot of fans associate with these parts (more so than the originals). There's nothing wrong with that, but this series doesn't immediately demand my purchase like some other Big Finish Ranges. I'll probably still give the first box set a go, and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
That said, I would have loved a continuation of the storyline of An Adventure in Space and Time perhaps more so than Bradley's First Doctor adventures.

New version of the first Doctor's theme I wonder. I kind of hope they go with the pilot episode version - with the thunderclap. I won't mind if they don't though.

Hasn't every long term fan since the 80's had the same idea about an earlier version of the Master rocking around the universe? I know I have. I don't know what Nick has or has not thought of over the years. If I could find the actual pod cast you could judge for yourself what his reaction amounted to. I'm just happy to see them go in this direction with the Master. If I helped get a ball rolling great, if I didn't that is great as well.

I'm glad they're bringing in a new early Master as well. Should be pretty cool. Athough I'd love to hear more from Alex Macqueen in other doctors releases as he is awesome, it'll be interesting if we ever see this new early Master meet the 4th-8th Doctors also.
Whichever way way they go, I'm sure Nick will do justice with his idea.

I wonder if when we meet this version of the Master he will be fully evil? Or will we see his descent into villainy over the course of the stories?

James Dreyfuss as the First Master.....well...that's certainly a left field pick!
My brother thinks Gimme, Gimme, Gimme is the best sitcom every so at least he might give that story a listen for once!
That's pretty much all the Thin Blue Line main cast done a Who story now too which is nice I guess.

He appeared in a Waking the Dead where a played a slightly unnerving character so I think he could play the big frienmmy .
