Jackie Tyler, Defender of Earth! I am so excited for this.
Get Shaun Dingwall into a recording studio and we could have Tales from Pete's World.
Quick question here. I know that between Aliens of London and End of Time any scenes on contemporary Earth were the year after the broadcast date. Is this the same for Pete's World? Was it 2007 when the Cybermen rose and fell?

Get Shaun Dingwall into a recording studio and we could have Tales from Pete's World. Personally, I'd find that much more interesting than Tales of New Earth. Lots of potential in exploring Pete's World. Is Theresa May a binman there? Does Donald Trump work as a dentist? Vicky Pattison is one of the most highly regarded television presenters in the UK?

Like the Parallel Time of Dark Shadows, what is different? How did other races turn out? It's ripe for Unbound-type stories. Does Pete's World have a native Doctor? Are there Time Lords? Is this a universe that has developed without the Time Lords?

It would be fun if there's both a native Doctor and native Master, but the Master is good and the Doctor is evil.

It would be fun if there's both a native Doctor and native Master, but the Master is good and the Doctor is evil. I wonder if time travel is possible in this world. It would be way better if it wasn't possible, given that this would make the Meta Crisis Doctor's mortality all the more confining. Maybe Pete's World is the universe that would be if Time Lords never existed in the first place. Maybe that's part of the reason why the Doctor couldn't get the TARDIS working at first.

That's a good point. Also: what would the Metacrisis Doctor's view be towards the real Doctor? Would he see it like a police officer chucking him in prison without being sentenced for a crime?

Well there's almost definitely a universe where that is the case considering the revelations in 'Master'.

'It's like he's got a death wish' - Hmm, foreshadowing a reveal that the Metacrisis Doctor turned suicidal after Journey's End?

The Metacrisis Doctor is ripe for a dark take on the show. I still would like to see it revealed that he becomes the Valeyard at some point.

Certainly an interesting idea but I think I'd leave the poor guy be, lol. Personally though, I'd love for the Valeyard to feature in the Time War (or to have been created specifically for it, if those details haven't been filled in otherwise already) - maybe he could play the evil Doctor to a relatively less evil Master? Michael Jayston was absolutely great in Trial of the Valeyard and The Last Adventure. It would be a real shame for him to not do more Big Finish, and the Time War is on, so the idea pretty much just seems natural to me.

It would make sense for the Time Lords (during the period Eight's refusing to fight) to somehow create the Valeyard. A version of the Doctor with none of his morals, but all of his experience, would be a monumental weapon in the War, perhaps to keep the Valeyard on their control they gave him a limited lifespan but he still went rogue and escaped to Gallifrey's past.

Admittedly it would make more sense for the Valeyard to have been created for the Time War. If the Doctor refuses to fight, then it adds up that the alternative would be to create a darker Doctor who will. Only the Time Lords went too far and made an evil Doctor instead. I could picture a future Time War set with Paul McGann and Michael Jayston facing off.

I could imagine Ollistra doing that easily. In fact, I read your post in her voice.

I really hope that they don’t go down the obvious route of TenRose happily ever after love and basically make these stories the stuff which fanfiction is made of. I mean, that would just be pretty boring and I think it would be more interesting and more realistic if MetaTen and Rose didn’t stay together because their relationship eventually crumbled due to a multitude of reasons, such as Rose always knowing that her Doctor is still in the other universe no matter how hard she tries to look past the fact that MetaTen is just a clone, and then the fact that MetaTen is probably significant different from normal Ten, considering he’s part Donna, there’s a chance that, that became a deal breaker or that MetaTen never even had the feelings for Rose that she had for him, or even that Normal Ten might have had for Rose. Now I know I just sound like a TenRose hater trying to find any way possible to decanonise that relationship - well that’s pretty much true to an extent. But I do genuinely think that giving them a happily ever after would be boring. I can easily imagine that Rose would continue working for Torchwood while MetaTen goes off to UNIT and they stop talking, except MetaTen continues to have a close friendship with Jackie which results in them having adventures together and possibly even running away in the Tardis.
