I would be excited by this, should be excited about this, but I was so disappointed by Mostly Harmless adaptation (Quintessential Phase) that I fear this one will be a hash too.

More Hitchhikers on the radio. Yay!
Adapted from Eoin Colfer's 'And another thing'. And I begin to weep.
That novel reads like a 'copy and paste' homage from all of Douglas Adam's previous Hitchhiker books. Lacked imagination and I couldn't finish reading it. Anyway, back to the beginning. More Hitchhikers on the radio. Yay!

I also don't think I've been able to read all of Colfer's book. I start it, and end up just jumping ahead to see if anything gets better... and it really doesn't. Still, I'll probably listen to this at some point and hope whatever they come up with for audio is better.

Yeah, the book was a struggle to read and I never did finish it, Eoin Colfer is no Douglas Adams. It will be interesting to see how the radio dramatisation pans out. Its HHGTTG... on the radio... with the original cast... so I'll definitely have to listen to it!

Colfer's book probably wasn't going to be any good anyway, but I reckon it ought to have had at least one more revision (ideally, the author should've had somebody from the literary estate standing over his shoulder). Nevertheless, I think there's some potential there, and if they improve the storyline and dialogue - and include original Adams material, as has been claimed - I think there's ground for optimism.
Although not much optimism as Simon Jones seems to have - 'He said the series promised to be the "wittiest and most epic adventure yet".'
(It's a real shame that they gave up on doing the Dirk Gently/Hitchhikers crossover Dirk Maggs was working towards).

If they work in other material and go back to the radio plays having their own continuity, that will go some way to fixing the problems I had with the Quintessential Phase. But the more I read about Colfer's book, the more I'm thinking this could be the worst of all worlds.

I didn't finish Colfer's book, either, for the reasons already mentioned in this thread, but I would be interested in a new take on the story and the original cast doing it makes it certain that I'll want to hear it.
