Here we are again, a NEW season of The Walking Dead just a couple nights away. The October 22nd (AMC) or 23rd (FOX) aired lineup includes: - An added bonus scene along with cast interviews for the last episode of Season 7
- The Season 8 premier of TWD is its 100th episode!!!
I expect a more action packed Season 8 over last year's transitional events of Season 7.

A decent season opener which sets up a few questions for the season ahead, i did feel something was missing though a bit like when you miss a episode & try to catch up & work out what happened during the episode you missed.

100th episode - Mercy
The showdown with Rick's united group attacking the Sanctuary with Negan and his 5 lieutenants defiantly standing in harm's way of looming gunfire (where only in comic book land they all survive) did provide some amusing showboat moments. Rick NOT entirely counting down from 10 (guns blazing on 7) was an effective commercial break cliffhanger! Daryl leading the heard of zombies towards the Sanctuary also offered a few grand scale blasts. The bullet explosion where Daryl blows up the chained walker was spectacular!
As for situational logic oddities there were MANY examples within this episode! When enclosed in the dark with a head honcho bad guy (presumably holding a bat) and he threatens to make you shit your pants...you then probably don't need to ask for clarification of WHAT that means? Just shoot him with the assault riffle that happens to be readily available in your hands!!!
Ever since the Negan character has entered the scene, like it or lump it, this televised version of TWD has NEVER been so (surprise, surprise) comic book like.

Like a lot of TWD episodes of recent years there was a lot of nonsense in this week's season opener... like a sniper could take out the Saviors tree lookout from distance but couldn't shoot Negan out in the open on his balcony... or where do all their bullets come from for Rick's group to waste on warehouse windows etc., and don't get me started on Father Gabriel and his AK47!
If you like the Walking Dead comics then the TV show is fine as it's basically at comic book level now. I suppose as it doesn't pretend to be anything else we can't really complaiin, so expect more of the same from the rest of S8.

This week's episode of The Walking Dead was a bit better, with plenty of action and some interesting moments. The Jesus / Tara moral dilemma was one of them, but in this show Tara probably has the right idea; shoot the f***ers! Letting bad guys live usually turns out badly in TWD. While the throwback cameo of the guy from the Atlanta camp in S1 was totally unexpected and has probably led to a lot of Googling... The one question nobody seems to be asking in season eight though is... 'Where's Heath?' (There must a lot of amnesia in the zombie apocalypse. )

The one question nobody seems to be asking in season eight though is... 'Where's Heath?' (There must a lot of amnesia in the zombie apocalypse. ) According to Scott Gimple (executive producer) and Andrew Lincoln - expect 2 more consecutive episodes that are action-packed. I'm enjoying the full throttle beginnings of Season 8 as well! 100%, I didn't remember who Morales was either! His small role 1 episode (S01E02: Guts) aired 7 years ago! As for Heath (laugh out loud), maybe he's pegged as a crossover character for FTWD in 2018? AMC is airing 1 minute-ish successions of webisodes called TWD: Red Machete (its origins) during the commercial breaks of its Season 8 Walking Dead episodes. Is FOX doing something along those same lines? Reminder - Rick uses that same red-handled machete to kill Gareth (Terminus leader) during Season 5.

Better episode, action was directed well & the characters all had there moment, Rick killing a guy then realising he just killed a newborn babys father was a gut punch shock & Andrew Lincoln sells the scene subtlety & magnificently.
Only bit i found strange was Morgans Terminator style rampage he must have been using force powers & Darryl was underused yet again.
Darryl will sneak up behind Morales next week & stop him shooting Rick.

S08E03: Monsters:The good: Although a brief encounter, I thought the conversation between Morales and Rick pertaining to what they had become of themselves provided some dramatic impact. And, the PROTECT THE KING pandemonium pile-up of 1+3 men with blood flying in all directions was an effective way to end an episode! The maybe: Whether you enjoyed it or not (some of me did), the fight between Jesus and Morgan played out to be rather silly. You could view Morgan awkwardly snapping out of his "I don't know what I'm doing" rage trance as comic book tripe, OR it giving credence for the unpredictability of a mental disorder. On another front, it's looking like that there will be an upcoming confrontation of philosophies between Rick and Daryl. An additional soap opera thread to supply us with drama. The bad: How much time has past since Glenn died? Maggie still doesn't look remotely (Season 6A) pregnant!!! The actual timeline of events may not be that long, but I don't believe that it feels that way to us viewers. It's TV land; provide her actress with a pillow!

Hmmm... my Mum used to say "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" ... so just this once, I won't!

Better episode this week & a solid return to form, Carol back to kicking butt & Shivas death is heartbreaking, excellent acting from Khary Payton as Ezekiel who pitched the performance just right.

Yeah, this was probably the best episode of the season so far. Carol back in business and the Rick and Darryl tag-team kicking ass too. Personally I'd have preferred it if Shiva had lived and Ezekiel had died, but it was good to see The Walking Dead get back on form. Let's hope the rest of season eight carries on like this.

Awful lacklustre episode, i question the scriptwriters for Ricks decision making, there's no way he'd gone there alone & face the Heapsters Rick would've just ended Jadis & her people for there betrayal.
Nothing moved forward plot wise, a forgettable episode.

I'm curious to know, whether or not, if Simon has ever come across occurrences of padding among the thousands and thousands of EastEnders episodes that he has watched! My point being that it's now become evident (perhaps from the outset) that TWD is simply a melodrama with an apocalyptic backdrop. I would still rather have the continuance of this show over it being cancelled.

Walking Dead S8 E7, poor episode again, the illogical choices being made is ruining the narrative of this show, bring back Frank Darabont.
When did Eugene turn into a alcoholic, why would Rick spare Jadis? Why did Rick have to fight yet another zombie & why is Darryl being so reckless?

If next week's mid-season finale isn't an improvement I won't be watching TWD when it comes back after it's break.

Conversely... Even with all its flaws that have been touched upon within this thread. I've found Season 8 to be entertaining in a camp way. And, I much prefer it over last Season's (perhaps dramatically necessary) subjugation happenings of Rick's group. S08E07: Time for After:I really enjoyed this Eugene-centric episode! Most of TWD fan base probably wants Eugene to rejoin forces with Rick (the perceived good guys), BUT I actually don't want to see that happen. The last few episodes have attempted to demonstrate the blur of what is good (Rick?) and what is bad (Negan?). Both sides have people among them that only want, what any human wants...is to survive (and thrive). The scenes with Rick versus Jadis and her Scavengers were cringingly outlandish. Loved its ending leading into the midseason conclusion! (Nice work Daryl! ) The bird has flown and there's going to be some pushback! "ALL OUT WAR"

why is Darryl being so reckless? On the other hand, I've never thought of Daryl as being especially careful. No worries though...he's an imminent DEATH possibility. S08E08: How It's Gotta Be:I am PUMPED about this upcoming 88-minute midseason finale!!! Who is going to die in this episode? - Daryl
- Carol
- Michonne (probably not - she just took a beating)
- Carl (heavily rumoured - but I don't think so)
- Judith (some online conjecture)
- Morgan (FTWD could still be a prequel)
- Rosita
- Tara
- Aaron (doubt it)
- Dwight (Eugene's tape recorder)
- Eugene (doubt it)
Will Rick's sighting of the flying helicopter come into play? Will Heath re-emerge as an eighth man?
