My time, on Sunday, I'll put up a post saying discussion on the next story is open for business. The next Sunday, same. I'm in New Zealand, so the earliest known Divergent on Sundays. There's no rush to listen or comment. You'll have a weeks window where others will be listening and commenting on the same story. i was in Mumbai a few months ago. Count me in then. Were you here for work? Visiting family, so I'm familiar with the time difference.

I'll definitely join in for the first three, as they're on Spotify and I've been meaning to look into Erimem. After that just have to see if I can/won't feel guilty spending more money on Big Finish each week. Of course those nice people at BF have helped out now you can get every story in the Erimem arc as a £2.99 download... minimal guilt for feature-length audio gain... EDIT: Almost every story - yes, omega 's correctiion below

All except The Mind's Eye and Bride of Peladon. But two out of thirteen (counting the free stories No Place Like Home and Veiled Leopard) ain't bad. At least you'll know what to ask people to get you for Christmas, or how to spend money you get at Christmas.

So how does this exactly work considering we all belong to different time zones. I'm from Mumbai, India and I'm about 4.5 hrs ahead of the UK. I usually find the time for listening on Sunday afternoons my time. That's great! People don't always say where they're from of course but I think you could be the first DU member from India. Aren't we a wonderfully global community, from the Pacific coast of America to omega who catches those early UK morning BF updates at an unfairly civilised time of day in New Zealand. The Doctor would be proud of us! Now we need a member from one of the mid-Pacific island nations and we've circled the globe. 'Around the World in 80 DUers'

'Around the World in 80 DUers' For me the advantage is that my waking time overlaps with Australia/NZ for the first half of my day and the UK and US for my second half. So I always have company

This would be fun to get in on if I can manage. Erimem is probably near the top of the list of any companions I under-appreciate, and my memory of the stories is pretty badly disjointed (I think because it took quite a while for me to collect all of them, and I've never heard them in series).

Same here as I'm in college so I don't always get a lot of time to listen anymore. Really fuzzy on the early ones. I know I like The Eye of the Scorpion and The Council of Nicaea as well as Son of the Dragon.

How have everyone's preparations been going then? I've sprayed a throne-like chair with gold paint, thrown golden sand all over the floor and stood some potted palms around the room, turned the heating up to the "Nile max" setting and found a fake ostrich feather to fan cooling breezes with. The camel is parked in the garage and those sacred ibis in the pond look very authentic (bit worried about where the asp has gone to, but I'm sure it will be OK...) And today this bloke turned up out of nowhere with a Hallowe'en jackal mask on (very convincing too, it almost looked real...) and said he'd brought the gift of Erimem to all humanity and gave me the oddest tablet you ever saw. It's not stone or clay, but it does carry 'The Eye of the Scorpion' and a dozen other sacred texts so it must be alright - and you don't read them, you hear them! Great mysteries indeed. So I think I'm all set to "Listen like an (ancient) Egyptian" (one out of a 1930s B-movie at least!) Seriously, an all-new (to me) run of adventures with Five, Peri and a brand new companion with a fascinatingly different story to tell is a great prospect. Looking forward to it, from my boringly non-ancient-Egyptian-themed dwelling!

I've sprayed a throne-like chair with gold paint, thrown golden sand all over the floor and stood some potted palms around the room, turned the heating up to the "Nile max" setting and found a fake ostrich feather to fan cooling breezes with. The camel is parked in the garage and those sacred ibis in the pond look very authentic (bit worried about where the asp has gone to, but I'm sure it will be OK...) That's the spirit! It looks like we could be in for the long haul on this listen-through and not one to do things in a small way myself, I'd tell you what I've been doing in preparation but you'd swear I'd been drinking the stout stuff from a tinfoil pith helmet (I probably have, but I hardly see how that pertains). However, might I hint that with any luck, the proceedings will begin with having Egyptologists Mark Lehner and Miroslav Verner stuffed and mounted for not specifying data sources for their respective pyramid catalogs? How remarkably unprofessional and counterproductive of them! (Will it never occur to them that the poorer the quality and pedigree of the data, the more numerous, dubious, and extraterrestrial are the theories can be can be made from it?) ( The Digging Up the Sordid Past Project also aspires to conclude the festivities with the vindication of Professor Thom - to begin with, on account of the Megalithic Yard being essentially square root 5 to the remen, which is itself essentially square root 2 to the cubit, thus making Thom's proposed unit almost seem as if a rather sound proposition, metrologically speaking. Hardly seems fair for Petrie to be a Sir and Thom to be a pariah when I actually have to question the works of both with considerable frequency. Petrie, in fact (in spite of the reverence due him) hardly seems to have even been aware of the existence of the remen until quite late into his career, from what I am currently able to gather. Now someone's going to have to back and go over all of his measurements again and try to see which were actually used where, and how long would you suppose the volunteer line is for something so incredibly arcane? BTW, I'm not actually suggesting that Egyptians were in charge of decorating Silbury Plain, but the default does seem to be that "the grapevine" might have been almost astonishingly robust back in its day. There also seem to be some rather loud rumblings to the effect that the true antiquity of the modern British foot may be equally astonishing, in which case someone should be exceedingly proud of how well they've preserved an ancient and particularly important heirloom measurement itself even when its story may be old enough to have vanished in the mist - but a person can only be burned at one stake at a time, you know). Personally I'd rather put up with the sort of things that Indiana Jones has to deal with than to think I might have that sort of news for the archaeological community, but I needed a new hobby since I was about ready to kick the nearest physician in the shins if I read one more medical paper (quite literally, I think) - hence an Erimem listen-through does indeed seem most wonderfully timely in relation to my home activities. (If anyone runs into a copy of Petrie's unpublished notes on CD-Rom, please do give a shout. I've just learned of it and haven't actually contacted the museum yet, but my initial impression is that I'm more likely to find a genuine unicorn and am already praying there's a dusty one in the den or attic of someone's aunt or uncle). Were I a much wiser and less caffeinated person, I'd simply purchase a pair of those lovely hieroglyphic throw pillows and go have a good long lie-down (and think about whether I might be much better suited for something like lepidoptery, where heretic status probably isn't quite as instantly attainable. I'm probably have to propose that butterflies descended from bison or something to be in as much trouble as I'm likely to already be in store for even with a quaint little subject like metrology - who knew?) I was inspired to write a short story about Erimem and Romana earlier today, though - it's called The Meeting(sound of TARDIS materializing in ancient Thebes followed by Romana emerging) Erimem: Is this magic? A person from a loud blue box! Romana: Hello? Erimem: Hello there - I'm Erimemushinteperem! Romana: Erime... Mush... Erimem: Erimemushinteperem... Romana: Erimemu... God, it's a good thing I didn't bring Leela along... Erimush... Interpreter... Yes, it does look like I'm going to need one of those... Erimem: Well, that's your name then? Romana: Romanadvoratrelundar Erimem: Romana... Trevor... Romana: Not Trevor! Romana... dvora trelundar... Erimem: Right... Well, I'm very pleased to meet you... Romana... Who Devours Tree Lumber... Romana: Likewise Erimem: And I'm very pleased to think that a very long time from now, perhaps you and I can be on a first name basis! Romana: Indeed! (The End) We now return you to your regularly scheduled sanity...

I've had the privilege of having my name written on parchment in Hierogyphics (ofcourse with a translation scroll to go with it). So this is added fun for me
