£38/ticket !!!! Am I out of touch with prices or is this expensive. And what about tickets for children, no discount? With train fare, hotel, and food, it'll work out to be quite a wodge of ££

I think I'm going to buy a ticket in the hopes I can make it to the UK. If I can't, well, I've thrown away money before.

I think I'm going to buy a ticket in the hopes I can make it to the UK. If I can't, well, I've thrown away money before. Very optimistic of you. Hope you make it. As it's on a Saturday, I doubt I could make it even if I am in the UK at that time. Although, if there's a place to sleep within walking distance, I might be able to do it...

Prior to Big Finish Day, the Whoovers will be holding Whooverville as normal, and their regular Friday night events. If you can make it along to any of these, you really should. This Friday is a Daemons themed event headlined by Azal himself, Stephen Thorne. Also attending will be people involved in the new Damaris Hayman as Olive Hawthorne DVD drama White Witch of Devil's End (*) and the expanded novelisation Olive Hawthorne and the Daemons of Devil's End - Keith Barnfather, David J Howe, Sam Stone, Debbie Bennett and Andrew-Mark Thompson. Merchandise will be on sale and they'll all be signing. I'll be there interviewing all the guests, and Stephen's interview will form part of the forthcoming Stephen Thorne Myth Makers... so if you'd like to be in the audience for a Myth Makers interview now is your chance. (*) There is a special DVD available too The Daemons of Devil's End which includes the White Witch... drama and the famous Daemons reunion documentary Return to Devil's End.

£38/ticket !!!! Am I out of touch with prices or is this expensive. And what about tickets for children, no discount? With train fare, hotel, and food, it'll work out to be quite a wodge of ££ it's incredibly *cheap* for entry to a convention day isn't it?

I guess it depends on the convention. Some are more, some are less.

I saw some charging more, some charging less, at least in the US. Maybe conventions cost more in the UK, I didn't check into that, as I don't know the names of all the UK conventions off the top of my head. Also, the conventions I have gone to or know about all have panels all day. Sometimes multiple panels in the same or overlapping time slots. Are there conventions that don't have panels?

With train fare, hotel, and food, it'll work out to be quite a wodge of ££ it's incredibly *cheap* for entry to a convention day isn't it? Don't know as I haven't previously been to a convention, just comparing the price to what else I could spend the money on. For example I could visit Madame Tussauds and have a trip on the London Eye for the same cost --> www.madametussauds.com/london/en/tickets/So not sure what my £40 gets, would I be entertained all day or would 2 hours be enough and then go home. With the information I've read so far am not sure. Are there panels all day? Unlike the majority of people on here I'm not a huge devoted fan of Doctor Who. What I do enjoy is audio drama, and would much prefer to listen to a Big Finish production of Doctor Who than watch it on the television. My concern is that this day is geared more towards the DW fan, than a fan of Big Finish. As someone who hasn't been before is there more than trade stalls, autographs in exchange for ££, and a few 20 minutes talks/presentations? If it was nearer I would be less hesitant, but as it will take 6-7 hour round trip would like to know it'll be worth it.
