Ten and Rose How could I not like it . Lot of people have said the story was brilliant. Ofcourse it was. No doubt. But, it was a few other small things that floored me - the subtle Ten/Rose moments Specifically this line from Ten made me go Awww {Spoiler} I have the Tardis, and I have you. What more could a wandering Timelord want That was so sweet

I'm not really a fan of Series 2 and I'm not really a fan of the Tenth Doctor and Rose team. I don't think this story or the other two stories changed my mind on those two points, at least not as of this moment. However, that doesn't mean I didn't like this story quite a lot. Infamy of the Zaross reminds me very strongly of The Fourth Wall. In fact, I expected the Porcians to be the main villain of the piece right up until the reveal. I don't know when I really started to appreciate Camille Coduri's performance as Jackie Tyler, but she's been great in everything she's appeared in for Big Finish and that's true here as well. It actually took me a moment to identify Billie Piper as Rose - it's been a while since I last watched a Series 1 or 2 episode - but she puts in a good performance here too. Overall, this was a pretty good start for Volume 2. Nothing that I despised from Series 2 is present here, but it's definitely a Series 2 story. I'm looking forward to the next two.

Wonderful story and performances (Big Finish never lets us down) I've only listened to this first disc so far and don't know if this is answered in the behind the scenes, but I have a quick question for dorney: Are the Zaross named as a slight homage to Vengeance on Varos? I thought the rhyming and similar story aspects of real life violence/death being used as entertainment might be more than just co-incidence

Great story to start off the set. Admittedly, when the story first started and it became clear what was going on, I was worried that it might turn out to be too similar to The Fourth Wall (especially since I listened to that story recently for the first time) but I needn't have worried. It's somewhat similar, but manages to be different enough not to feel like a rehash of that story. Similar to relativetime... {Spoiler} I was expecting the Porcians to show up too, especially since Flip described them as space warthogs in The Fourth Wall, IIRC.

Listened to this last night. Hugely enjoyable adventure with a healthy side of satire. Series 2 is not my favorite Doctor/Companion pairing but as they are great together in this production. Oh and Jackie Tyler continues to be one of the show's secret weapons.

I listened to this over the weekend. Great lots of fun from start to finish. I had forgotten that I ordered the physical copy and downloaded this. I'll wait for the CDs to arrive before listening to the rest (it is a more pleasurable listening experience in my car and I have plenty of other material to hear in the meantime).

Good fun, very authentic to its era and it’s still a joy to hear David Tennant back as The Doctor. Billie Piper is great, but her voice was often off throughout, I thought. Guy Henry is a fabulously camp villain. And a very neat touch incorporating the series arc too.
I think my favourite bit was the Doctor belting out “let’s be ‘avin’ ya!” Delia style!

Ten out of Tennant. Just a ton of fun, and very authentic to the feel of the era. A bit of Idiot's Lantern at the end there, a bit of Love and Monsters inferiority for Jackie, and so much of the early S2 romp that kinda slipped from that series' later episodes.

Guy Henry is great, but was he deliberately channelling Lord Melchett from Blackadder? Anyhow, my review, pretty spoiler free, is up over at CultBox.

A fun opener with a good sense of humour but a few serious beats along the way. Very reminiscent of the era it was trying to reproduce.

That was perfectly delightful! Man, when Camille Coduri become the best thing about the Tennant era? She's just flawless. Tennant and Piper are excellent, but she's on another level entirely.
The story was very fun. I appreciate how we got right into the action. It moved along quickly without ever seeming rushed. Characterization was great. I don't even like Rose, but I found myself nodding along approvingly with everything she did, because all of her actions seemed so right.
It's hard to think of anything that would have made it better than it already was.

It's very Fourth Wall in some respects, but no worse off for it. Very fun, perfectly paced, and Tennant is spot on not just here, but throughout the set. His performance feels a lot more at ease than it did in the last release (and he was no slouch in that). Camille Coduri has finally seemed to have gotten the old Jackie voice back now, too, whereas in previous releases it's often been a bit variable (just the voice, not her performances), at least to my ears anyway.
Billie Piper gives a solid enough performance, but she doesn't sound all that Rose, but again that's not an uncommon thing, and we've had it countless times over the years where a first audio performance is a bit off from how it used to be on the show, particularly for those who haven't done a lot of audio/radio work. I think comfort level with the medium and a growing familiarity with, and trust in, the people they are working with tends to let the actors focus more on the nuances of performance as they go along, probably combined with actorly muscle memory getting better the more you revisit an old character. Certainly not a bad start, anyway, and the performance wasn't stilted at all, and still came across as natural, which is always a huge plus.
A good, fun kick off to the latest set.
