And yes, I know there is a thread for the set overall, but the three stories are available separately, so if someone want to get just this they won't need to fear spoilers for the other stories.

You can really tell Nick directed this based on the casting. I'll listen to anything Guy Adams writes, he's that brilliant.

My biggest issue with the casting is not casting a trans or non-binary person as Chevalier. Who knows, maybe Grace will surprise but for the time being, I'd rather have them cast one of the multitudes of trans or non-binary as a non-binary character.

Has it been confirmed anywhere that the Chevalier's Meant to be a Transgender Human rather then a Gender less Alien in Disguise though ? Regards mark687 I think that would be really offensive to a lot of people. The Chevalier was a real person.

Now having read up I'm sure the role will be performed as respectfully as possible
Once again sincere apologies

I might be wrong - and apologies in advance if I say anything problematic, I’m learning every day and trying to think hard about diversity issues, but I know I’m not as aware of the nuances as I’d like to be - but I think casting the Chevalier trans would potentially have been offensive to the trans community. I think the gender trans men and women identify as is pretty unequivocal. Non-binary I can see, but I’m not sure how you’d search for specifically non-binary actors.

[...] but I think casting the Chevalier trans would potentially have been offensive to the trans community. I think the gender trans men and women identify as is pretty unequivocal. Well, as you'd expect, there's some muddying of the waters. Some people identify as "non-binary trans", for instance. I think the journalist Jack Monroe fits that. And of course, it's hard to retroactively define the Chevalier by today's labels without being a tad ahistorical. (But that's not to take a swipe at trans history.) I don't know about casting, but I suppose for many trans actors, what matters most is getting good work and meaty roles. I'm sure BF, like everyone else, could probably do better. This would be a good question for the podcast.

I think trans parts should be played by trans actors (unless there are circumstances in the story that make this impossible) but I also think trans actors should be getting more roles than aren’t specifically trans. Things like Rebecca Root’s role in Zaltys need to happen more often. It’s kind of hard to tell how well everyone is doing though, to be honest, because I genuinely have no idea how many trans actors there are out there. Equally I’ve slightly struggled to figure out a way to write in a trans character. (Incidentally, I worked with the fab comedian Avery Edison on the Guilty Feminist Loud Voices podcast pilot she wrote, it’s well worth a listen for people interested in some of the issues).

Things like Rebecca Root’s role in Zaltys need to happen more often. Absolutely, and Doctor Who's the perfect place for that too. (On another note, I hope Root becomes a BF mainstay. Boy Meets Girl was brilliant.) I get what you mean about how it's a tough thing to write. It's all to easy to speak (badly) for other people's experiences, or to shoehorn representation in too clumsily. And all sorts of unintended associations crop up, like how they admirably cast Bethany Black in Sleep No More, but in a role that was... perhaps a bit too dehumanized for the distinction of "first trans actor".

Thoroughly enjoyed this
Tennant and Grace make a good double act the Aliens and their agenda topicly nasty.
A shame we didn't hear how the Doctor got out of the situation the Physic Paper got him into
So far the 10th Doc and Rose set is 2 for 2.

Again, story here was brilliant as usual.. We are pretty much sure of BF's standards by now. And yet again, the subtle Ten/Rose wow moments For instance this one - {Spoiler} He tries his best to impress Rose and have her compliment his fencing skills Reminded me of Christmas Invasion - their first episode together and I got nostalgic Even in the end he tries to convince her he's good And.. when he hears she's been taken by the aliens, his anger - shows he really cares for her Sorry guys- but I am a Ten/Rose fangirl and can't help gushing over small things like this. Loved it

Well, that was pretty enjoyable. I'd say the meat of the episode was mainly the Doctor and Rose interacting with the set pieces and people - it's not as plot heavy as Infamy of the Zaross, that's for sure. I think the urgency only really picks up at around the halfway mark. That's not necessarily a bad thing - as I said, it really is enjoyable to listen to, especially the situation the Doctor's psychic paper gets him into. The villain is pretty creepy, too. The ending reminded me of a few other episode endings during Russell T. Davies' series - it's a little too tidy, if that makes any sense. Again, nothing that makes this story unenjoyable, but just something I noticed. Overall, I'd say Infamy of the Zaross is my favorite of the three stories so far, but Sword of the Chevalier is still good.

This box set is great, loved this one as well. Although the innuendo about Errol Flynn was in poor taste for a family friendly show.

Of the entries in a strong box set, I think this story was my favorite.

I continue to wish we'd get one or both of the following in the future:
Tennant box set styled after McGann's: four 1h stories part of one overarching plot.
Tennant box set w/ 1.5h-2h episodes. Charge more if need be.
BF has done plenty of outstanding 1h episodes, but I continue to feel like Who generally works better in a longer format. Especially, I find myself liking the McGann sets lately. The 4h meta-story provides a strong sense of having been on a journey without feeling plodding or needlessly drawn out.

Agree with this comment. The episodes are great stand-alones, but I'd love to see something that ties the stories together.
