A fun pseudo-historical with a good lead villain and a guest cast. Great stuff!

Another fun and authentic story to the series its replicating. The smugness of the Doctor and Rose is very well captured in the beginning without being overbearing; definitely inspired by Tooth & Claw, I think. Great villain and guest cast.
I still think Billie is the weak link; it’s a good performance but her voice is all over the place. Definitely a step up from the first story though.

Anyway, I generally liked the story. For me, what drags it down is the constant nods to romance.
This is one of those situations where I wished BF would take a little license with the canon (if they'are allowed) and just plain omit any Doctor-Companion Romance. I know it was played up on the screen, leading up to the final moment where 10 says "Rose Tyler, I ....", and the connection breaks, the word implied.
It just seems so bizarre to me to think of a romance between the two races, especially so after everything Moffat made 12 say about the difference between TL and human relationships. Their minds are vastly different even if they look the same. There aren't any good analogies, of course, but it's sort of like a 100 year old falling "in love" with a 5 year old, or a man falling in "love" with a monkey.
I also just plain don't watch Who for romance.
Then again, I know other people liked that aspect.
Anyway, the episode was pretty entertaining, though it was a bit slow at first.

I liked the romance aspect in the Ten era. It’s a matter of opinion In fact this story was my favourite in the set.

Just listened to it (my CDs just arrived this week). It was a lot of fun. I was surprised that the Consortium baddy didn't notice that their slaves were escaping. They were all ready to take off and poison the Earth without them. It also seemed to take 10 a bit longer to mention that he was the superior being than I would have expected. That this actually worked was quite amusing.

Had a lot of fun with this one, a very Tenth Doctor semi-historical romp, with some great guest performances from Grace as the Chevalier, and a couple of BF regulars (Elstob and Briggs-Owen) as the twin voiced villain of the piece. A villain, or species at least, that I hope we hear from again one day. Breezily enjoyable.

Well, that was another fun story. I had never heard of the Chevalier, who apparently was an actual person, who I looked up, as I always do with historicals. The plot was interesting and kept me engaged all the way through. Very good writing and acting.

Just so much fun Mine also Add me to the list! I absolutely loved it! Yes folks, (with all due respect to Rose fans), I "absolutely loved" a story with Rose in it... Zooming-fast-paced historical swords-and-spaceships romp with evil aliens, the finest blade from Gallifrey and the even finer blade of the not-a-hair-out-of-place-cool Chevalier d'Eon. The Tenth Doctor at his best - non-stop, quick-talking, all-action fun! Allons-y mes amis, en garde!

Lets be honest .It classifies the Doctor as a pretty selfish individual if he thought Rose was in love with him he should have said one day i may be a woman and take her reaction from there. but a good enjoyable tale same with Cold Vengeance pretty much fit into their eras

As I continue with the LTD edition set 😂 because I like writer and director notes as compared to my individual CDs of these stories. I really enjoy the individual nature of these stories I do not need a big story arc Rose had hers. The individual unconnected stories work well....something I really long for with 8 ,Helen and LIV . this is a fun historical from the Slough reference onwards and totally fits in with its era of the stories and to find out a bit of history at the same time.I guess Nickolas Grace should be applauded for his performance bringing the character to life. Always an enjoyable relisten
