Appropriately enough, I listened this morning while driving to work in the snow at 10mph
Helped capture the mood!

So when did the ice warriors start talking like an oversalivating teen with braces? I remember the slow whispery voices from the show, which were effective as long as they had shorter lines, but that voice the lead ice warrior had made me want to adjust it's head gear or ask it to spit.
Was that actually how they sounded on the show?

Was that actually how they sounded on the show? Ice Warrior voices I think are in the Ear of the Beholder. Nicks sound closer to the originals I feel, the difficulty here is you might be right, its a lot of dialogue performed with heightened emotion rather then the traditional cold levelness of their normal speech pattern.

Earthshock with Ice Warriors but more upbeat overall, Does have a slightly controversial last line though Regards mark687 I missed the last line. It had rolled over to theme before I could go back to relisted. What was it? Overall, I thought it was a cracking good story. I was fearing all of the guest characters were going to be killed, but Lorna survived. I was wondering whether the State of Temporal Grace circuits were working or just forgotten.

The Doctor calls Rose
"Rose Tyler Social Justice Warrior"

Maybe a bit on the nose, but hardly controversial.

Maybe a bit on the nose, but hardly controversial. I don't know, if BF were more mainstream I could see sections of the popular press having a field day with it.

I did hear the Social Justice Warrior line, but I didn't hear Rose's last line. I can see how some people might object to that, though.

I found this one to be pretty standard stuff, all in all. Fun enough to listen to, well performed, but all a bit paint by numbers really. Which in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but it definitely suffers in comparison to the first two stories in the set, which for me set the bar quite high. I do agree with others that Piper started to sound a bit more Rose-like in this one, but having listened to all three pretty much back to back I might just have been getting used to her voice, not sure.

I think they both sound a bit off, but I did have some trouble recognizing Rose's voice. To me, Tennant sounds a little more overly-upbeat than I'm hearing as I rewatch the reboot. But that's minor. I demand more.

I did hear the Social Justice Warrior line, but I didn't hear Rose's last line. I can see how some people might object to that, though. I didn't catch Rose's last line, either. I enjoyed this story over all. It was fun to re-visit the Ice Warriors. Though I do find the Ice Warrior manner of speech a bit grating, even in the classic stories. I agree that the refugee part of the story could have used a bit more development. It being brought up so late in the story made it seem a bit of an afterthought. But a generally enjoyable story.

Continued with the limited edition it make it feel SPECIAL ๐๐๐๐
When I first bought the individual releases and played them this one was the standout tale now I think they are all pretty good though I think Rose sounds more Rose like in the latter two tales I wonder if they were recorded in order?Zaross sounds like a Rose just finding her audio feet. I knew this story would appeal -close confined stories thrill me-chilly and cold?-well am Scottish .What I found slightly depressing is that we didnโt get David and Billie again as of yet but we got Dimension Cannon whereas I wanted more individual non arc stories like these. This is a great Matt Fitton script we really have a talented bunch of story tellers at BF and given that the writers write for comics, for books for BBC etc am surprised we still get such a wealth of ideas personally I donโt know how these guys remain so enthusiastic with ideas...I keep the prayers going to the big God of ideas to keep their minds enlightened hahaha...especially with lockdown I need the entertainment. to be perfectly honest when I want entertainment I rarely switch on the television anymore
