I wonder if this will be set during The Christmas Special?
I'm assuming David Bradley is going to be strongly considered as reader...
Always interesting to see BBC audio do their own original audio stories for old Doctors (though if the rumours are true it seems Chibnall wants an instant slue of 13th Dr tie in merchandise ready for S11, so we might not see much in the way of original Classic series content from the BBC in future...) always hoped they might do some 9th or War Doctor stories one day...

The fact we have 12 months in the year, and 12(ish) past Doctors should escape no ones attention, and should be shouted at BBC Worldwide every day. One new story, per Dcotor, per month with two or more in November because, durr, it’s November. Thirteen is outside of this regularly cycle, she gets batches of three like the old incumbents got.

I wonder if this will be set during The Christmas Special? I thought that, but it's a helluva delay if this is intended as a tie-in to the Christmas special. It's also too early to mark the Armstice. (It's remarkable to think we're coming up to the hundredth anniversary - it wasn't so very long ago that there were a fair few veterans around. For that matter, the last survivor of the *Boer* War only passed away in the mid-1990s).

Off Topic, but I remember reading that as recently as a decade or so ago there were children still living born to Fathers who were American Civil War veterans...

Peter Purves confirmed to be the reader; looks like it features Sara too. Think I’ll definitely be picking this one up, love the First Doctor, Steven and Sara TARDIS team.

Cover revealed: Horrors of War is also set during WWI and includes Jo Grant. Not sure if that was already listed on Amazon when I posted the link before...

I think it's to add to the excitement of series eleven Just imagine if the last (fourth?) part has Thirteen as the Doctor.

I think it's to add to the excitement of series eleven It'll be the usual semi-regular Audio Original linked series, like the Winter stories or the Lost stories (not to be confused with the Lost Stories ). Usually they've been Capaldi series, but since we're 'between' Doctors they're revisiting the past.

Episode 3 is "Fortunes of War", but it's unclear as to which Doctor it features. Amazon originally had it down as the 5th Doctor - as does other websites still - but this has been altered to the 6th Doctor in their listing.
1, 3, 5 would seem to be a pattern, though.
(As this looks to be a series with a different Doctor in each one, could a Moderator amend the title of this thread to something more suitable?)

Listened to most of this today. Good story but a very strange choice to get Purves narrating the story in the 1st person as a character other than Steven.
Bexause I am used to CCs I kept thinking it was Steven talking when it was Captain Steadman.
If a story is narrated by a new character in the first person then get a new actor to narrate it. If you are getting Peter Purves then have him narrate it as Steven in the 1st person or else do it in the third person.
The way the bbc have done this is imho bizarre
Having said all that, Richards has penned an excellent script and Purves gives a good performance. The end of the story (I presume) sets up the 3rd Doctor story nicely.

Don't usually purchase the BBC narrative stories but these got me intrigued, awesome cover design, do the story's feature music & sound effects or just purely a narrative format?

Four years on and I have (finally) got round to listening to this trilogy... Whilst I'm not going to say it's my favourite arc in the world, I at least enjoyed each of the three stories.
I don't think I could listen to them 'all-day, everyday', but I do have a soft-spot for multi-Doctor cross-through arcs, I will say.
