Well that's my preorder settled. Absolutely. A Third Doctor Cyberman story. Written by Marc Platt. Very metal-fist-clenchingly exciting

I must admit I wasn't 100% about this idea back when it was first floated - traditionalist that I am - because it's part of Who history that this match-up is the one which famously didn't happen on screen. Silly, silly me!I can now say confidently that I think the news is... *adopts unusually deep booming voice* Excellent!Actually, wrong era Cyberman - possibly Mr Briggs will be performing his Isos Network version Cybervoice as being the last (chronological) 2nd Doctor Cyber-story (I think). And they didn't say "Excellent" so often back then either. (Oh and it goes without saying but: Only three months until the next 3DAs. Whoo-hooo! Heading for two volumes a year now surely!)

I’m a bit dissapointed that they aren’t doing a full Cyber invasion of Earth, but I guess that would be too similar to The Invasion. This should be good though.

Ah that is the question
Invasion/Sword of Orion sounding ones would make the most sense/ but people have been wanting 80s sounding ones for ages.

I hope they get Mike Franklin in to do some more of these soon - Yates worked very well in set 1. And it's possible John Levene might be up for them too.

I didn't need another reason to want to buy this, so this is just icing on the cake!

I imagine we’ll have the Invasion ones in this and the the 80s Cybermen in Hour Of the Cybermen later that year and then the NiS versions in the UNIT set.

Maybe he has a brother? I want to hear this NOW! The Third Doctor era is far from my favorite, but these stories sound fantastic.

I think I'm typical of a lot of American fans of my generation in that we didn't have a lot of exposure to Pertwee's era, so the initial announcement didn't really catch my attention. But a Platt-scripted Cyberman story with the Third Doctor?! THAT got my attention. I guess Big Finish is getting more of my money.

I’m an American, and Pertwee’s era was pretty much all I was exposed to for a long time. When I started watching the show, my PBS station would play the handful of complete Troughton episodes, all the Pettwee episodes (except Day and Planet of the Daleks, for some reason), and then loop back to Tomb of the Cybermen after Planet of the Spiders.

Huh. Maybe my experiences weren't as representative as I thought. My station played Tom Baker through McCoy and looped back to the beginning of Baker when they were done. Maybe our stations split the catalog and we each got half
