If it's a post Traken Master, does that mean there was time between his failure to control the Source and taking over Tremas?

It could just mean anytime after those events, during one of his many reversions to his decaying form.

We do not know how long The Master remained in Tremas's body. The stories featuring him could take place over a short period of time for him. While it was a long time on TV there's no guarantee that it was a long time in universe.

If it's a post Traken Master, does that mean there was time between his failure to control the Source and taking over Tremas? Dust Breeding, Master, and Mastermind are all Beevers post-Ainley after losing the body and reverting to his decayed form, so it could take place in that era for the character as well.

Oh, wow! I love everything about this release! That's one nice looking cover!
I liked Geoffrey Beevers previously, but he is one of my absolute favorite performers (in Doctor Who or otherwise) since I listened to his heartbreaking and inspiring interview with Toby Hadoke. (It's one of the files that I never delete off the app).
The only downside I can see is that we have to wait until next October to hear it.

Is this the first time we've had a Master story written by a Master?
(The pun was unintentional, but I'm owning it.)

So was Mastermind, for a time, which also features the Tom Baker theme song, even though it should really have the Eighth Doctor one.

It takes place right before the end of Keeper, right? So I suppose that makes sense. And I'm assuming we'll get the Season 18 theme, as opposed to something new and Mastery.

I thought they only specified a "post-Traken" placement, which could also put it anywhere between losing the Ainley body in the backstory of Dust Breeding up through becoming MacQueen.

Hm, suppose so. I just assumed the "killed world" was Traken. But I guess that's not quite post-Traken.

My thought: it's the story between the Master's failure in Keeper and his possession of Tremas. Maybe even including his possession of Tremas.
Rebeevers from Dust Breeding and Threevers from Mastermind both have been ignored for a while. I thought for a bit that Threevers was going to turn into Macqueen in The Two Masters but they had something much weirder and cooler planned.

I wonder if the post-Dust Breeding Master will turn up in the Seven, Mel and Ace stories? He'd be a good villain to explore the arc, maybe even in Mel's final story?
