If you want some pulp-style tea towels (0.90p) or a retro 1950's espresso set (gift boxed £5), or a tin disguised as an adventure novel (£1.65) to stash away as Christmas gifts, go here! www.magpieline.comThe cosmonaught and anatomy glasses are awesome, not to mention the notebooks.

Happened to be in Madison to get my eye cleaned and stepped into Barnes & Noble where I picked up a copy of American Gods by Neil Gaiman, an author whom I’ve only read his collaboration with Terry Pratchett

The BFI have announced a launch event for the 80s Hitchhiker's Guide bluray, it's at the Southbank in September so the bluray should be here for the Autumn.

visited Cambridge (UK) last week and was surprised to find Fopp had copies of a 2012 compilation of 20 episodes of Dark Shadows at a low price (presumably released to tie in with the Tim Burton film to show what really happened when Barnabas returned). Surprising because I hadn't seen it before ...and it was in the British TV section... at £3 (with another purchase), I bought a copy

My Blu-ray of The Changeling has shipped. One of the best ghost stories ever made. I can hardly wait.

Mine arrived from HMV yesterday Most deluxe edition Second Sight have done, worthy of Arrow,MoC or Indicator. The Synapse looks to be pretty much the same feature-wise as well as sourced from the same 4K master. The only thing the Second Sight disc looks to have over the US version is the booklet.

Seems a lot of the boutiques who own rights in the US and UK separately are splitting the costs of a lot of features and restorations these days as we're getting more overlap than ever and a lot of similiar releases (with plenty of major exceptions of course!) but releases like this or the upcoming Candyman restoration seem to be joint ventures. And yes, I ordered the Night Of The Demon and William Castle bundle direct. John who runs Indicator is very good with customers, always answering emails and he's told me a good few releases upcoming - including most excitingly for me Scream Of Fear and Revenge Of Frankenstein for Hammer Vol 4.

I won't get on my hobby-horse and cry "Why don't they do a 'proper' release of Satanic Rites of Dracula on DVD/Bluy-ray?" again, but I will say this: Night of the Demon - it's in the trees, it's coming! Exceptional film!

Been making use of the 'Bonkers' Network on air sale.
In addition to the 50th Anniversary Prisoner Illustrated History and 6 CD Soundtracks bought last week, this week I bought Andrew Pixleys 'Under the Red File' book for £3 (RRP £20) and arrived today, 'Callan - This Man Alone', a 3 DVD documentary, 2 new transfers/complete recording block and 'Edward Woodward Hour' light entertainment episode (I have couple of his albums on Vinyl) set for £3.90 or so, from £20 originally.
That completes my collection of Callan TV and Film extant materials, having previous releases. Recommended viewing/reading for those new to Callan through BF.

Five cases for Lord Peter Wimsey (aka Ian Carmichael) :
'Clouds of Witness' & 'The Unpleasantness at The Bellona Club' are definitely 'period pieces' but 'Murder Must Advertise' is a lot of fun
and 'The Nine Tailors' and 'Five Red Herrings' are simply two of the very best 'golden age' detective novels, and these are great adaptations.
