Has anyone else been told that Santa won't be bringing Season 26? I posted when it was announced, nothing comes out for release in Christmas week on DVD or bluray. This being scheduled for then was probably an arbitrary calendar decision but was never practical. It's normally mid-January before the post settles back down so I'm OK with the wait. Imagine S26 went OOP faster because Royal Mail casual workers "lost" half the stock.

I always work on the assumption that these sets are going to be delayed, but even so this date was always less believable than usual.

Do we know what is coming after series 26 yet? Rumour is Key to time or season 7 annoyingly there's still no date for the Animations or season 12 re-issue which I would've expected first.

Really? Season 7? I'd heard rumours of 17 (Lalla Ward's recorded Behind the Sofas for it from what I understand), and I was under the impression that 7 was probably going to be one of the last ones. I rewatched Ambassadors of Death a few weeks ago and that's going to need serious work before it's going to be ready for the Blu-Ray treatment. Having it released in the first dozen seasons or so seems like jumping the gun to me.

But I'm with you, let's hope they take as much time and budget as possible to make Season 7 look as good as possible. It's one of the all-time great seasons and I'm happy to wait for my Doctor's debut season to be the best, saved for last!

I’d heard rumours that the next ones were Season 11 and 14, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what’s coming up after S26...

So (trying to keep track here) we've had nods for 7, 16, 17, 11, 14 and tugirl told us (from the actors at the convention) that 20 is coming.
Perhaps we could guess which one isn't coming soon, might be quicker... (6B ? 23A ? )

Perhaps we could guess which one isn't coming soon, might be quicker... (6B ? 23A ? ) Joking aside, that would easily be Season 3. Of the ten stories (incl. Mission to the Unknown), only three exist in full ( The Ark, The Gunfighters, and The War Machines), with such stories as The Daleks' Master Plan requiring animation (in fact, there are three four-parters for which there isn't even one existing episode), so it's definitely going to be among the last - if not the last - releases in the range. Season 11 is likely going to take a while longer as they're probably going to go for a different method of colour restoration for Invasion of the Dinosaurs: Episode One, especially since they didn't even include the colour version on the DVD as the default version of the episode. I imagine they'll probably have to do something similar to The Mind of Evil: Episode One, but at least this time they've already got the red and green signals, so if Stuart Humphries is employed again at least 2/3-ish of his job should already be done. As I mentioned earlier, The Ambassadors of Death is in really rough shape, so that'll probably push the Season 7 set back a bit. It will hopefully also give them a chance to use the chroma dot technique on Doctor Who and the Silurians, allowing them to combine the images with those from the off-air American recording to create the best possible picture. In general, the Pertwee seasons are likely to be delayed the most due to technical difficulties. I think most of Season 9 is in pretty good shape on the whole, though I reckon Season 8 would probably benefit from an extra layer of restoration. Terror of the Autons sticks out in my mind in particular, especially the exterior scenes; nothing quite as bad as some sections of Ambassadors though (for anyone who doesn't know what I'm referring to about Ambassadors, just start Episode Two, you'll see what I mean). Outside of the technical difficulties of colour, there's the obvious missing episodes problem. I reckon we'll probably get a Space Pirates animation some time in the next 2-3 years though, as that would make a Season 6 set ready for shipping (and it would be much easier to do than either Marco Polo or The Cruasde to get those seasons out). TL;DR Bascially anything featuring the first three Doctors is likely to take a while at this point. (Maybe I should have just posted that and been done with it? )

"Out of print? Out of print? Out of PRINT? ME??!"
"Yes, Doctor. The evidence gathered from the matrix of ebamzom is incontrovertible. Your season 23 blu-ray has just been adjourned. Permanently." (Valeyard laughs evilly!)
(Hope everyone got their seat in court while Sixie was on the stand!)

Well that was quick. A few years ago not a lot of people would have guessed that a Sixth Doctor box set would go out of print in less than two months I think. Although I imagine it's because those sets are limited and Sixie's reputation is thankfully much better than it was in the 80s.

After only a three week gap since the last one, I've just got my copy of Season 23 here in Aus! Now it's just a matter of waiting for the confirmation on Season 26

My copy of Terror of the Vervoids has a scratch on it I always find it slightly more disappointing to find a scratch on an item that was plastic wrapped at time of purchase. Stores that keep the discs separately? Yeah, I can understand why they'd be scratched, but being scratched before purchase is just annoying. Anyway, it's going to pay off in a small way - turns out that the stores 20% off sale didn't go through when I bought it (which I've only just discovered when looking at the receipt), so when I take it in for the replacement I should be able to get about $10-$15 back as well

Has anyone else been told that Santa won't be bringing Season 26? Just got an email. Looks like it's been pushed back even further. At least for me: "Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 26 [Blu-ray] [2020]" Estimated arrival date: February 07 2020 - February 12 2020
