For God's sake don't tell Trump that the US didn't get Power Of The Daleks or Shada on bluray, he'll want to bomb 2Entertain. 2Entertain?! I don't think they've existed in donkey's years. Anyway, Trump has more important things to deal with. 2Entertain are still going. The branding isn't used on Who releases any more - BBCDVD is, rather clumsily even though its the same staff and CEO - but 2E are still very much a thing. The 2E branding is used for any non-Beeb shows and films to this day.

Wonder what the limited packaging will be like? I can only dream of an Alice Zhang designed steelbook.

Also note that it does say "Series 12" of "The Doctor Who Collection" wheras the US sites we've seen list it have done so as Season 1 of Tom Baker.

And even more suprising the new features already listed (with more TBC) make it look worth Double-Dipping.
7th Doc Era next? (I'm only half joking )

I suppose you could transfer the 1st and 2nd Doc stories and everything from Trial of the Timelord onwards to Blue-Ray fairly straightforwardly, but for the entire series? The production costs versus the profit gap would be huge surely?

They could always split the series releases in half, though.

They could always split the series releases in half, though. Ah but that could lead to consumer out-cries of "I'm paying double what I paid for these last time how dare the BBC gouge me" where as with 1 box = a Complete Season I think they can get away with it .
As I said I wouldn't normally double-dip but new effects for Revenge and new interviews are convincing me to.

But there's casual fans/customers and the BBC are expecting big things from the upcoming series, so it's a no-win either way. Given the quality of bonus materials on the DVDs, I'm okay with it.

Looks to be an absolutely stacked set. Wonder what the plan is for the range if it works....series 13? Another Doctor?

Well, this be pleasantly worth while. Sad I already own all these stories on DVD, and been converting them digitally.
Do we have a price point yet? That's been my biggest hurdle for getting dvds. Maybe if it's right I'll support it just to get to other things I'm still very annoyed with going OOP.
I also should know better than to read through an entire thread for the first time.

Yes, I wouldn't even guess myself with any confidence. Just doing Tom would seem financially sound - at least those big Hinchcliffe/Holmes years - but then leaves you with the problem the VHS' ended up with - that the big hitters came out early and the range fizzled out. The DVD range held some big titles back for years for that very reason - so that there would be fan faves (and therefore fan buzz) till the end. Either way, it's exciting to know they're not just sticking the DVDs on BD for a quickie cash grab, they're going the extra mile which we all loved about the DVDs with those extras already announced looking truly tantalising.

Ideally I'd like the next release to be a Colin Baker set to keep the bigger ones back. Then maybe a Pertwee series after that.

I suspect we might be waiting quite a while for any similar sets featuring the First, Second, or Third Doctors. The first two due to the sad abundance of so many missing episodes, which would require the sets to be configured differently. Also not sure how scalable some of the animated episodes done for DVD would be. And the Third Doctor, due to just how variable much of the video quality is from story to story, and sometimes episode to episode. Although that said, if they can improve the restoration efforts across much of the Pertwee era then that would surely be very worthy of an upgrade.
Everything Tom Baker onwards there shouldn't be any such issues with. So I could see them covering all of Tom, Peter, Colin and Sylvester's eras in sets like this one, providing they sell, of course.
Regardless, more extras, the promise of new restoration work, and added content means they've got my money again, even though I already have every surviving story on DVD already.
