They could always split the series releases in half, though. Ah but that could lead to consumer out-cries of "I'm paying double what I paid for these last time how dare the BBC gouge me" where as with 1 box = a Complete Season I think they can get away with it .
As I said I wouldn't normally double-dip but new effects for Revenge and new interviews are convincing me to.

Count me in too for those extras and interviews. And while some of the stories may not get much extra picture quality (for example 'The Ark in Space SE' is already very sharp and upscales to HD excellently), others in the season are older DVD releases, so a 'special edition' of the whole season would be worthwhile. And if they still have the original location film footage for Revenge in particular, there's quite a lot of it to benefit from HD.

Well, this be pleasantly worth while. Sad I already own all these stories on DVD, and been converting them digitally. Do we have a price point yet? That's been my biggest hurdle for getting dvds. With four of the original DVD releases in this set each retailing at around the £14 mark with the remaining Sontaran two-parter going for around a tenner, the buyer would have spent in the region of £60 to £66. Given that this set also has new extra material added, would it be fair to say £55 would be a more than generous price? I’ll regard anything cheaper than this to be rather a lovely bargain.

Unfortunately I'm an American, so my prices are different. I was just curious if a price was known. $55 is acceptable for a tv show, if a touch on the high end.

The high end being well justified of course seeing as the Classic DW range perhaps knocks every other exclusively produced for DVD special features for a TV show, clearly out of the ball park. Fans new to these stories will look at their more recent new DW series boxed sets and sneer at the comparisons.

Those fans new to this up and coming range will look at the more recent DW series boxsets and curl their lip at the comparison. 😄 May be. Doesn't mean I can afford it easily.

As if I wasn't sold on the idea already, we have whole new special features. I'll definitely be picking this up. Hopefully it does well and we'll see releases from other Doctors too.

Well I guess it is time to buy a blu ray player and wait for this to go down a little in price. Until then I’m going to do the standard buying of the rest of the classics I need before dipping into these sets.

All the extras are definitely putting this on my radar. Curious to see the new effects for Revenge, too. As for the price point, in the US it's currently listed on Amazon for $69.99, which strikes me as pretty reasonable for the amount of material you're getting. Prices often tend to drop on Amazon as the release date gets closer, too.

Well the cover has been revealed and it’s a lovely piece of artwork by Lee Binding. However it has the new logo on it. Not sure how to feel, it’s gonna look outdated in a few years. Like those Classic Series DWM graphic novels with the RTD logo on them.

Like those Classic Series DWM graphic novels with the RTD logo on them. Over on Gallifrey Base, Steve Roberts says this was mandated and everything will have the new logo going forward branding wise. Not sure if that will mean BF in due course, presumably so since they've been forced to change things before, like losing the gold McGann logo.

Interesting. But I wonder how much better it can look on blu-ray considering the source material.

They appear to be using the old logo on the Series 3 Steelbook though. Its definitely an odd choice, but certainly an understandable one. During the Chibnall era, all of Doctor Who will be Under one banner rather than separated into different sections, which is a good idea in itself, the only issue is, when Chibnall leaves and the next showrunner changes the logo, all of this will be outdated and would be akin to us having a collection of classic DVDs with the RTD logo on it. Hopefully it’s not the same for future Classic Series single releases as well.

Very classy design, and will look good on a shelf.

I'll hold out for a big price drop down the line or pick up a second-hand copy. Unless they've rescanned the film sequences there's not going to be any real improvement in picture quality and extras don't really sell me on releases any more since I've barely enough time to watch time.

Well, I'm a big fan of this idea. One major problem I have with getting into the classic DVD range (and looking at my DVD shelf now, I have 20 of them, so it's not like I haven't tried) is having every split into individual stories so there's waaaay too many releases, and I more or less refuse to buy DVDs now. It's Blu-ray or nothing, kid, fight me.

Oh, I love the cover.I'm kind of surprised they kept on the Pertwee logo on original series releases for as long as they did. Back in 2005, it made sense, but given the success of the new series, not so much.

Season 12's re-release is coming out closer to the launch of the new series, though.
