Amazon have dispatched Season 24 I've just got a message saying July 14th is when mine will arrive 😧 I dunno why mine is coming so promptly - I ordered it asap after announcement, maybe it is to do with that. I live in NI, so it is to traversing the infamous Irish Sea border - it's not as if I am living in some really convenient location.

Just collected mine from under the doormat. Nice and chunky, full of yet more hours of VAM to slowly work through. Lets hope the next one is a B&W debutant.

I don’t think there’s any indication as of yet. We know that something was recorded for Season 20 in Amsterdam back in 2019, Lalla did some stuff for Season 17 before she moved to Hong Kong and I think Louise Jameson has done material for Season 15. Just the usual banking of material in the latter two cases.

Just the usual banking of material in the latter two cases. S20 has had more features than others at least started, but COVID has almost certainly turned plans on their head for the schedule. Chris and Russell have said as much. so releases that need fewer original cast and crew suddenly would have become much easier to do than talking to the likes of Mark Strickson without having it be over Zoom, and they don't want to do that if possible. S15 would be as good a guess as any as to what's next - Lou has indeed recorded some - perhaps more than others. Lalla also could have recorded a bit for her role in S16, of course. Would have been good supplementary material to bank with her, especially in lieu of Mary Tamm being available, sadly.

You think everything is a "PR nightmare" when it comes to Who from the show to BF to these! That is 100% on brand for Amazon on release date when an item sells out the initial stock. It would not be the first (or 100th) time they've oversold their stock of a pre-order. They always say "Between 1 and 2 months" as an estimated re-stock untill they get sight of actual stock - from the supplier or from other warehouses. So the "1-2 months" can become "Arriving tomorrow". We've surely, anyone who buys DVDs, blurays and books all had the "Good news, this item will be in stock sooner than our estimate.." emails. The difference here is people aren't going to (understandably) believe that's possible and they'll miss out because of past experience with how fast these sell. I'm sure HMV got a LOT of orders about 5 mins after those emails were sent. And of course the standard, unlimited, edition is easier to get...that's kinda the point of them! But "this range's PR and delivery" shouldn't be blamed - rather Amazon's logistics. They're the ones taking orders for release date and then not delivering. How is that the range's fault?

This beautiful shiny, video-tastic, tumbling Eighties extravaganza has just arrived. You know, there are some who say Series 24 isn't that great. I mean, what? Here's to the future!

Colin Baker: "Ah, now that, I think, is a Tetraps." Michael Jayston: "Sorry?"
The Behind the Sofa feature is just brilliant.

Disc Eight of the Series 24 Blu Ray set contains a feature-length documentary covering all aspects of it. Called Here's to the Future, it really is essential viewing, still unearthing new things, images and viewpoints about this controversial time for the show and its cast and crew. It's poignant, brutal at times (the clip from Open Air and the harridan presenter in particular), touching and ultimately triumphant! One of the best Who documentaries I've seen.

The TARDIS interior art in the booklet tray is pretty stunning on this one.

Sorry to rattle on so much about the Series 24 set, but it really is an absolutely stunning treasure trove of ... everything, really! I watched The Doctor's Table tonight, with Sylv, Bonnie, Sophie and Clive Merrison. Four very lovely people sitting down and reminiscing about their time on the show (prompted by some questions), a concept that produced an atmosphere of genuine warmth, joy and affection. No sarcasm, no cynicism, just a celebration of their memories - and what memories they were (Clive Merrison's story about he and Richard Brier's being called to JNT's office is fantastic). Raising a glass at the end whilst everyone said nice things about Sylvester was also a treat and great way to draw the feature to a close. Really, we have never been so spoiled.

I watched The Doctor’s Table on Season 24 earlier. I didn’t like the S23 one very much at all and I don’t think this one is much better either, unfortunately. It’s got its moments, and the questions feel less forced this time round, but it's a cringey and choppy watch for the most part.
Out of the TARDIS works so well in DWM because the questions are broad and thought provoking, which provide a meaty response from the interviewee.
This should be my ideal feature on paper. I love conversation over food, particularly in a restaurant environment. I love Jay Rayner’s Out for Lunch or Grace Dent’s Comfort Eating podcasts. The Doctor’s Table isn’t either of those. It’s a great concept on paper, but it needs to lean heavier on what they get out of the participants. Out of the TARDIS in DWM does this brilliantly, as does The Writer’s Room features elsewhere in The Collection.
Realistically there’ll only be one more of these; the Fifth Doctor. Third time lucky perhaps?

You know the score - I name a feature on this magnificent Series 24 box set and then blather on about how great it is. The latest on my list is In Conversation (a chat between Matthew Sweet and Sylvester). I've been a fan of the Seventh Doctor for 34 years, but I realise now I knew very little about the man who plays him. What a life Sylvester has had! And how modest he is about it all. Filmed inserts from the Ken Campbell Roadshow show Sylv doing all the kinds of things you might have read about over the years. It makes me realise that Doctor Who really is just a small part of this sprawling life. Magnificent.
