Oh, wow. That's an incredible trailer. The Enterprise model is especially impressive--still the DIS design, but all of the detailing just screams TOS. And the music. Oof. So good. I think I'm now beyond the state of cautious optimism and well on my why to full-on hype. Random note: notice how the windows on the hull are just featureless yellow blobs? That's because it's cheaper and easier to render. But if anyone ever wondered how the windows on the physical models were created, they actually took photos of the interior sets, and then placed the film on the inside of the window with a light source behind it, to create the illusion of interior spaces. (Not saying that the featureless glowy things are bad, to be sure--I know well from experience how difficult it is to create an illusion of depth beyond the pane.)

Strange new worlds is very, very good.
I think the next ten weeks are going to be a delight.

Picard season 2 finale - Good, a marked improvement over the last few weeks. Still not as good as the first two episodes of the season, but a reasonable--if a little predictable--conclusion.
Strange New Worlds pilot - Very good, but also very clearly a pilot. I'm happy with what I saw, but I also don't feel like I got a feel for what the show will be like.

From great (Star Trek Strange New Worlds) to terrible, the final episode of Picard was BAD. What a pointless journey this has been.

The positive reviews for Strange New Worlds are going to make the next seven weeks or so until the show arrives in the UK rather frustrating..

I rather enjoyed the finale to Picard, there’s a great cameo that tied up one of the more aimless plot threads, and there are ties to the future of the Soong’s as well.
The final scenes with Q are very well performed and a highlight of the season. I will admit, Q’s actions once explained were remarkably in character, and the back and forth between Stewart and Delancie shows that these actors haven’t lost their touch.
For a season that had its wheels spinning it’s a fine finale and I look forward to the third season.

Strange New Worlds Episode 1:
Damn, that was fantastic, and the speech from pike near the end gave me chills. Can't wait to see the Star Trek is too political gang go after this one now.

Aka the people who aren't even faintly aware of what Star Trek has been all about since before NBC aired a single episode

Finale of Picard. I liked this. Fitting end. I liked season 2.
Was it perfect? No. Was it hampered and tied down by the COVID pandemic? Definite yes.
But I think they did much better than they did in season 1. They did a very good job considering.
And all the small cast, recycled cast members, limited locations and internal struggles.... this reminded me a lot of a Big Finish play. In the best possible way.
I felt entertained, I cried a few tears, I laughed several times. It was great to meet old favorites again.
And, last but not least-
{Spoiler} Plus, Wesley Crusher is now officially a Time Lord. How cool is that? He even gets some real Doctor dialog.

Love to see SNW getting some praise. I'll probably wait till it's all over before I start it, so I can watch at my own (inevitably inconsistent) pace.
Holding out hope for a refit at sometime so we can get the return of the infamous nipple-spikes.

I finished "Picard" - I think the second series was better than the first - blah, rather than bad, but it picked up a bit in the last couple of episodes, even though there was too much going on and the spatial anomaly whatsit appeared tacked-on. I can't say I'm sorry to have lost some of the characters as series 3 comes up.

Oh, did anybody else spot that the final episode of "Lower Decks" nicked a plot device off of - all things - Hyperdrive!
{Spoiler} Both series have a cybernetic character who suddenly recovers memories that they were tricked into being enhanced.

Just finished the first two episodes of SNW and I probably need some time to collect my thoughts. The first (and only) Star Trek movie I saw in theaters was in 2009, and as I left that theater I thought it was really good. Then, in what would soon become a pattern with J.J. Abrams' films, I saw it a second time--and left thinking the opposite.
The point is, immediate impressions can lie, lie, lie, lie.
That said, my first impression of SNW? I really like it. The first story was pretty decent, I thought, despite a few clumsy spot... but I left the second episode in love pretty freakin' psyched. Mount's Pike is a very different character to how he appeared in TOS, and overall the tone of the show seems to take its cue more from TNG than the more militaristic TOS and TMP eras, which is a bit odd, but I don't mind.
I also really like the characters and casting so far, but am not really clear on who the main protagonists are supposed to be, outside of Pike himself. I mean, there are a lot of characters on this ship. so far Uhura's probably my favorite, and the Aenar chief engineer the one I most want to see more of. Though the CMO guy also left a pretty good impression in his... one scene? Was he really only in one scene? Ah well. The point is I like these people. This is a proper Enterprise crew.
Speaking of which, while I'm willing to overlook most of the things that produce certain... misgivings, I dunno. My brain just screeches to a halt with, "second lieutenant Jason Hitler." How do I get past that? It's such a bizarre thing to do.

I've not watched thsi show yet, but I suppose having other crewmembers called Hitler, Stalin, Green, and so forth, makes it easier for La'an Noonien Singh to pass unchallenged?

I've not watched thsi show yet, but I suppose having other crewmembers called Hitler, Stalin, Green, and so forth, makes it easier for La'an Noonien Singh to pass unchallenged? That's actually what I was referring to, using an analogy to avoid spoilers for anyone. Like... I just do not know what they're thinking. I want to like La'an as a character, but with that name... it's really hard. It's either extremely clumsy, embarrassingly obvious foreshadowing of a twist... or, worse, it's a decision utterly bereft of meaning, chosen by scrolling through Wikipedia for a character name fans would recognize under the assumption that recognizing a thing and liking a thing are, in fact, the same. All I can do is cradle my head and ask, why?
