Every month there's a different set of Star Trek novels available in ebook format at a reduced price of 99c in the US, and 99p in the UK. The British deals sometimes, but not always, have the same slate of books. Anyway, this month's deals include the devastating "Coda" trilogy which pits the crews from TNG and DS9 against the end of the universe - each book is 99c on US Amazon, can't promise it'll be the same in other countries, but worth keeping an eye out.

Sadly also an abysmal character, played terribly! Not quite Raffi levels but hey!

Third time lucky for this abysmal show? Stranger things have happened, and the trailer does look good. But it's not had the same coverage as the same day's Doctor Who trailer {Spoiler} Interesting to note that the Trek trailer was very upfront about bringing back surprising characters from the past

The Picard trailer was fantastic, I’m very much looking gorward to seeing the series air.
Hopefully we start getting airdates for the next set of seasons not long after this lower decks season ends.

The Picard trailer was fantastic, I’m very much looking gorward to seeing the series air. Hopefully we start getting airdates for the next set of seasons not long after this lower decks season ends. Some of that has already been announced...
Prodigy returns on October 27, the same day as the Lower Decks season 3 finale. They haven't said how long this block will be but if it's 5 episodes as with the airing strategy so far, that'll take us through to November 24. If instead they do all 10 episodes remaining this season, that'll go till December 29. (Assuming only one release a week / they don't double up)
Picard returns on February 16, and a 10 episode run will take us through to April 20. (Same assumption as with Prodigy)
Discovery doesn't have an exact date yet, but they've said "early 2023" -- so it's a fair bet it'll start once Picard finishes its run.
Past that, nothing confirmed. Strange New Worlds S2 they've only said 2023, and the same is assumed of Lower Decks. My own personal speculation is that Discovery's 10 episode season will run till June, we'll get another 5 weeks of Prodigy (whether the final 5 of season 1 or the first five of season 2), and then Lower Decks will have its now-customary August premiere, with SNW returning in the fall.

Not really the plot, just the idea of a character being kept alive in a transporter pattern.

I really need to get on to S2 soon. Saw the news that they're gonna bring in the Odyssey-class for S3... I am psyched! Looks like it's getting a(nother) subtle redesign, too.

Picard Season 3 episode 1+2. (not much spoilers from me here for anyone who has seen the trailer; for those who have not, well, there might be mild spoilers)
Well, this series continues to be a very good looking, very violent and brutal, dark and gritty "Star Trek Greatest Hits". There is not much original in there. But it does invoke certain well known scenes and re-animates many beloved characters. So yeah, the TNG crew is back. And looking at the trailer, they bring along some of our favorite villains (after they brought back Q last season).
In all honesty, this actually kind of feels like the old TNG episodes where the crew go undercover. I get very similar vibes from it (well, apart from the excessive violence). You remember "Gambit"? Dark and smoky alien bars, Picard beating up Riker, Smugglers and Gangsters? Well, just imagine it with better visuals and older characters and you know how this looks and plays out (I personally always liked "Gambit", maybe because it was so different from the rest of the series). We also get some Wrath of Khan feeling (chase through a nebula) and sadly also some "Nemesis" vibes. And yes, I LOVED the Worf fight scene. And, also coming as no surprise whatsoever, Jeri Ryan still is the best thing about this series, closely followed by Michelle Hurd. Seven and Raffi really steal the show here, and I am sad to say, their scenes are better than the ones with Picard. I adore Sir Patrick- but he is now getting to an age where this just feels a bit forced! But Jeri Ryan makes every scene her own, and Michelle Hurd is brilliant playing this loyal broken officer battling with her demons and addiction. And I feel I am only watching this for those two!
So long story short- I like this. This is certainly better than season 1, but like with season 2, it feels more like a Greatest Hits album than treading new ground. I feel entertained. However, I am not thrilled and I am not enthused.
I wish they would do a Seven and Raffi spin-off, without the ties to the old guard, and telling some new stories. And yes, this sacrilege is coming from me. I basically worship TNG.

Every time they cut to Raffi I remember how trash the last two seasons were. Awful character. Awful actress.

Every time they cut to Raffi I remember how trash the last two seasons were. Awful character. Awful actress. Michelle Hurd is wonderful. She was fantastic with the fans during panels and autographs at last year's FedCon. She had kind word for everyone. She is an amazing advocate for neuro-diverse people like me since she herself has issues.
She brought hope and kindness to us all during some very personal chats.
And her performance as a broken person suffering from addiction is spot on and rooted in personal (family) experience.
So please take your unfounded negative opinion and attitude in this regard elsewhere. Calling her awful is uncalled for, nasty and shows that you have no clue.

Actually think she's got the most intriguing plot points so far this season. Regards mark687

Actually think she's got the most intriguing plot points so far this season. Regards mark687 Yes, I agree. I know that some people will say her personal issues are "soap opera material", but Michelle Hurd does not get tired to tell fans that this is what she loves about her character- Raffi is created to be a real person, broken, with many personal problems. She is no Sci-Fi superhero and shining knight like Picard and the others. She has many issues and problems, and she still tries to battle on and do the right thing.
And to be frank- season 3 is again (!!) about some crazy mighty villain trying to destroy the universe / Federation, starting out as a nebulous terrorist threat (I am getting a deja vu here). As I said, that is hardly original anymore. But that dark and gritty spy-drama Raffi is in, mixed with personal battles, totally has my attention.

My opinion is not unfounded. It is my opinion. I assume you have never said anything negative about an actor, writer etc? Anyway. Glad you are enjoying the show.
