Intriguing...

Just contemplate the level of technology and prosthetics wizardry we are at now that they can bring Spock back like this..and for the briefest of moments you can fool yourself into forgetting Leonard Nimoy's actually gone.
Intriguing indeed..but I'd imagine also a legal, ethical and moral minefield if the tech progresses even further.
A project (and archive) that I'll be watching for updates very closely from now on. Thanks for sharing.

Someone, somewhere, pointed out that 5there have been nine starships Enterprise. Seven of which had had a prefix. Seven of Nine … is the captain of the seventh, of nine, Starships Enterprise.

Thanks for sharing. I don't really like the "minefield" metaphor, as it seems to me that there are very few, if any, methods for using computers to digitally resurrect actors and superimpose them onto film that are even remotely ethical, let alone moral. Just as a proof-of-concept tech, it's very intriguing... but the moment the actual franchise starts doing things like that, Star Trek will be dead forever to me.

Someone, somewhere, pointed out that 5there have been nine starships Enterprise. Seven of which had had a prefix. Seven of Nine … is the captain of the seventh, of nine, Starships Enterprise. More than that! (EDIT: and more than this, too! Had to revise the list.) - HMS Enterprize
- USS Enterprise
- CVN-65 Enterprise
- OV-101 Enterprise
- OV-165? (unnamed spacecraft, possibly implied to be an Enterprise by context)
- XCV-330 Enterprise
- NX-01 Enterprise
- NCC-1701 Enterprise
- NCC-1701-A Enterprise
- NCC-1701-B Enterprise
- NCC-1701-C Enterprise
- NCC-1701-D Enterprise
- NCC-1701-E Enterprise
- NCC-1701-F Enterprise
- NCC-1701-G Enterprise
- NCC-1701-H Enterprise (implied, not yet seen on-screen)
- NCC-1701-I Enterprise (implied, not yet seen on-screen)
- NCC-1701-J Enterprise
Which gives us a list of 12 starship Enterprises confirmed on-screen, but also implies an addition several additional Enterprises (the 1701-H, 1701-I; the unnamed OV-165, which could be assumed another Enterprise). And if we broaden the category from "starship" to just "ship," we've also got the HMS Enterprise from ENT and the U.S.S. Enterprise from Generations.
So that's 12 on-screen starship Enterprises (or should it be "starships Enterprise?), 15 on-screen Enterprises in total, and 17-18 for the total in-universe count.

Does the real world aircraft carrier count? It visited my home town of Hobart in 1976.

Not like it featured prominently in the best Star Trek movie or anything... so that's 15 for the on-screen total and 17-18 for the total total. (The odd thing was that I was about to include the CVN-65 Enterprise, but for the wrong reason: when I double-checked the ENT opening and didn't see it, I omitted it!) (Also there's potential for there to be yet another Enterprise in the very near future, provided Star Trek keeps on kicking long enough to do another time travel story to the "modern day": the CVN-80 Enterprise is slated for a 2028 launch.)

I just checked: there's a painting of it in Archer's ready room, along with one of the sailing ships, the space shuttle and the NX-01.

I have a terrible premonition that I'm gonna be quoting this post in a week or two alongside a very unfortunate photograph, but... MasterReplica's final batch of old Eaglemoss stock is in today, which includes the USS Vancouver from Lower Decks. I managed to order one! Here's hoping it doesn't arrive shattered and broken.

1st 2 EPs of Strange New World's Season 2
Loosely linked to get the Crew back together
1st Ep is a fun romp, with a familiar Trek plot device, some proper Klingons and an intriguing new Chief Engineer
2nd has some brilliant performances but a resolution that might make you think "What was the Point"?

Prodigy has been cancelled by Paramount and will be removed from Paramount+ in the upcoming days. Though, it sounds like season 2 will be completed and released at some point.

CBS is shopping Prodigy around to other streamers/broadcasters as well, so this much more similar to show cancellation like Batman Caped Crusader and Jinx which found new homes after being cancelled for tax purposes.

That’s a real shame, and it’s frustrating that it’s being removed from their service as well. No need to pull the episodes themselves. Hopefully, it gets picked up by another network. I watched the first episode. That new character, super annoying. She’s been in the show for about 5 minutes, hardly enough to make a proper impression, or are you that upset by a silly accent?

Prodigy (and to a lesser extent Lower Decks) is where “ongoing Trek, but with the older actors” should exist, animated, a light touch but with serious tones balanced with comedy. Enjoyably “coffee and a cake” TV, not inconsequential but not “gritty drama”.

True from a Creative's Point of view . Something's gonna give though evenutally Network TV and streamers can't run solely on Reality TV and Sport till the end of time. Regards mark687
