With the three stories I have submitted over the years I have used the 4th, 3rd and 5th Doctors. Has anyone only written for one Doctor? Or have you always used different ones? I’ve always used a different one - 3rd, 6th and 8th respectively. Good to mix things up and keep me on my writing toes I think!

No replies, so far, in my Junk folder, I'm afraid. Hey, I didn't get an auto-reply... I sent a quick message to ask, and it was confirmed. I felt a little bad for bothering them, but I finished my submission REALLY close to the deadline and was rushing the e-mail. So I was wondering if I did something wrong... (I only found out about this opportunity recently, so I was working on it right up to the deadline. )... Good luck You don't have to feel bad about contacting them. Sometimes it does help to double check when you're really unsure; I've done that countless times with my orders (e.g. missing Subscribers extras). Nevertheless, hope you'll do well!

My first entry was for the Third and Jo, and this year I found myself back with them. Last year was the Fourth with Sarah and Harry.

I ended up not submitting again this year cause, between moving and a few other projects, I didn't have time to make the best it could be, but I will and polish it and submit it next year; I'm pretty happy with this story and I think I have finally managed to capture what makes a good short trip. Now I just have to use it well.

Yeah, good advice for these sorts of things in general. From the perspective of the voice behind the email -- you're never a burden, it's always okay to ask if you're unsure.

But I love the story so I will finish it and then submit for next years

Anyone get one of the old 'close, but no cigar' emails, yet? Do we know if Ian Atkins is doing all the reading himself again this year?

I don't remember when they started going out in previous years. Last year seemed faster than the first time round. I know the announcement says the winner will be notified in late July. If he's reviewing them all himself again then I'd imagine he's already started plowing through them. Probably as they came in.

Odd. I actually remeber it being slower than the first, mainly because more people entered.

I know the announcement says the winner will be notified in late July. Maybe he can chime in if I'm wrong, but I think Ian contacted Selim sometime around early to mid-August. Kind rejection e-mails were still coming in shortly after July.

Mid-August sounds about right. I’d actually figured by then that my submission hadn’t made the cut... But just imagine how long it takes to go through 1,000 submissions, and that on top of your day job.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think another factor is that the 13th Doctor reveal also took place in mid-July last year, so I'm sure that caused the BBC to be busy, so I wouldn't be surprised if Big Finish felt some ripples of busyness from it.
Still, it's just pure conjecture on my part, so what do I know?
When I first entered, I got a "close! But not quite" e-mail on July 1st, which was surprisingly quick. I also did enter on the last day, so maybe it was closer to the top of the stack in that sense?

I certainly don't mind the (pronlonged) wait. There's always the time for me to write a very rough draft of one of my submissions, even if I don't win.

So we should know by next Tuesday. And I have to give a presentation next Tuesday too! This is going to be a stressful week.
