Nick straight-up says on the podcast this week that stories with SJA characters are "more or less out of the question". That would seem to confirm that RTD, Phil Ford and Gareth don't want them to have the rights.

That would seem to confirm that RTD, Phil Ford and Gareth don't want them to have the rights. Understandable but disappointing. I wish they would see it more as a tribute to Elisabeth Sladen than some sort of insult to her memory.

I don't think for one second they would think it an insult. I think they just don't want anything more to be done with the show without Lis.

Said it before, but I'm not entirely convinced the tone and target audience of the SJA would translate to audiobooks and without the hook of the leading lady herself I'm not sure I see the point, the SJA had a lengthy decent run and stand as a fine tribute to Elizabeth Sladen as it is, her absence would be felt too much with CC style releases i.m.o, and many of the younger cast's voices have probably aged considerably since the show.
I wouldn't say no to more SJA stories in other mediums, such as short trips, short stories or comics though, just don't really see the point.

I don't think there's a need to continue SJA. The heart of the series was Sarah Jane, without her what's really the point? The way SJA ended did very well to provide closure and it had a very good run.
