It's been over a week now I think, but I've not seen any adverts here on the forum for a while, and it makes me wonder if everything is OK at Proboards? No ads means no revenue and that leaves me concerned that the forum could be shuttered at short or no notice, and I really don't want that to happen again.

I use an ad blocker on my computer, but I'm still seeing ads on my phone. Though, come to think of it, they're all ads for Proboards itself. So no clue. I'm assuming our Admin would get notification of any possible closure? TinDogPodcast, any insight?

I constantly see ads on my end, so its no looking like there is a sign of possible closure.

Still got some but the fewer there are the better, a couple of them tend to slow typing Posts down.

I use a hosts file so I don't see adverts (plus the other security benefits it gives for free.)
That said, on the forum now I'm not even seeing the placeholders for where the adverts would have been.

So now I'm seeing one ad all the time:
It makes me wonder if Jason's concern that the Proboards is having financial trouble is valid.
Anyone else getting that ad (or similar)?

Flicking from page to page, I've been getting variations of the same "Create Your Own Community" ad for Proboards itself, but no third party stuff. I can't find anything else that would indicate they're having troubles, though (Twitter, etc.). The Wikipedia article on Proboards claims that it uses Google AdSense for its banners, which is "based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors." So, in theory, we should be seeing ads related to keywords from the forum like Doctor Who, audio drama, Big Finish, etc. Hmm... Just out of curiosity (and for future-proofing), is there a Plan B for if the forum goes down unexpectedly?

I have been seeing either no ads at all (just blank space) or adverts for ProBoards itself. Bit unusual.

We mods did discuss backups at one point, but Proboards does not give a backup option for the free version. To have a backup, we’d have to pay. I was seeing ads for Proboards itself for a number of months and no other ads. Now I’m see nothing on my phone and the ad I cited above on my laptop. I also searched around for any signs Proboards might be having financial troubles and saw nothing.

I'll start looking at setting up some kind of lifeboat page on Divergent Wordsmiths. A gathering point that can be set live just in case the forum goes down. Hopefully, it's nothing. Buuut if it isn't, I'd still be contactable through the Wordsmiths submissions address -- "divergent.wordsmiths@gmail.com" -- if that helps at all.
