I'm not on Facebook and don't really like it but I'm wondering if the podcast should have a page? It would probably help get more exposure, but ugh, yeah I certainly understand your aversion to the place. My wife does some social media work as part of her job and she manages to get away with copying her press releases to Facebook.

If you do decided to create a Facebook page, update it regularly. There's nothing worse than an inactive FB page.
But keep in mind that FB has changed their algorithms, so you might not get as much exposure with a page as you would have in the past.

I wish Facebook would disappear up its own arse hole......out dated tired nonsense.
Why would I want to look at 500 reposts of stuff that’s not funny or interesting.
I remember dear Paul spragg telling me Facebook was the future and I should join because it was the way BF intended to go with news.
Thank god that never really happened.

Actually, it has. Big Finish puts a lot of news up on Facebook. Yes in terms of initial contact reaching the most people BFs FB Page is still the most popular and if the BBC Official actually copy the BF Vid Trailers it does keep increasing. then its Twitter.

Of course it happened - half the members on here who post "news" are getting it from FB or Twitter. Not sure how it "never really happened". In terms of social media, FB is still growing - it's forums that are generally considered outdated and tired for exposure purposes. And you only see 500 reposts of the same thing if you follow too much. I can see not liking it personally but that's not what Tin Dog was asking at all.

I do see a lot of news on Twitter, too.
But honestly, I come here, to the Big Finish updates thread, to get a lot of my updates, as our people who are online more (or earlier) than me often catch the FB posts and tweets before I see them.

What Paul was saying that he hoped to only be posting news on Facebook and not updating the website, poor bugger worked so hard. and I should follow Facebook and not miss out. that never happened the website is still updated daily..... yeah loads of people I know, are addicted to Facebook and posting every aspect of their lives and likes n dislikes......but I know plenty more that have done with Facebook too. i turned on notifications once, and the bloody thing drove me mad telling me of every Tom dick n Harry’s post was too much for me. i am sure there are ways n means to filter stuff, if I took time n trouble to work it all out. but it’s not for me. i get Twitter, but not something I use. and yes I know forums like chat rooms are old now....I wasn’t surgesting tin dog just sticks to forums just I don’t think Facebook is worth the trouble when he don’t really like it. you should know me by now Davy, I am a grumpy old bugger, n my posts often make me sound grumpier than I am...... but it was really a post to bring up spraggers

We're not in the lift leaving work for 5 secs before everyone has their phones out to do.....a whole lotta nothing.

If the Podcast is a means of earning revenue, then it makes commercial sense to be on Facebook.
If your trying to reach the maximum audience then it also makes sense to be on Facebook.
Otherwise avoid it like the plague.

I'm very grateful to those DUers who sift through the online swamp for nuggets so I can just log into our nice, friendly, NON-data-gathering/tracking/selling forum with a mug of tea and a biccie and catch up on all the BF news at my leisure.

Yeah it's just... I've lost a few listeners recently and I was looking to spread the word.

Can't hurt to try going on FB. If you let us know where your page is, I'm sure at least some of us will help spread the podcast among our friends and Doctor Who related groups.
