Ive been watching the Red Button stuff as it doesn't cut away to crappy interviews. Also the time difference makes it weird lol

It’s all very impressive but ultimately pointless and futile.....
The commentators talk utter twaddle and I hate the tribalistic banner waving.
But it’s far more fun and interesting than the oh so yawnsome summer ones.

Personally I could care less about the Olympics. Cities waste massive amounts of money on them, as do national and provincial governments. Far too often many of the venues are never used afterward and allowed to fall into disrepair, same with the housing.
I'd rather see the money wasted on the Olympics go into something useful to society - housing for the homeless would be a great start.

The Olympics is great. The problem is that a lot of the events this time round are on at awkward times due to the time difference. I imagine less are watching than usual as a result.

Enjoyed what I have watched so far. So much better display of skill than all that Dancing on Ice nonsense.

Maybe look at the amount governments spend on the military, or how the rich continually avoid paying tax which would easliy stop the homeless issue etc. But of course things like the olympics are an easy & very visible target.

I love the fact that North and South Korea are united under one flag.

My country is one that spends very little on military when compared to other G20 countries. As to tax avoidance, the government spent most of last year cracking down on tax avoidance among the rich, including those using international tax havens. So I restate - the Olympics are a massive waste of money that would be better used in other areas.

I love the fact that North and South Korea are united under one flag. I see that as potentially problematic. By joining forces with North Korea are they now supporting Kim Jong Un's nuclear ambitions?

But thanks for telling me the same point again I guess about the olympics. The Monarchy for example are an even more massive waste of monet that would be better used in other areas.

By joining forces with North Korea are they now supporting Kim Jong Un's nuclear ambitions? The Korean Peninsula remains one of the most tense regions at present, any move towards establishing better relations between the two Koreas is positive. The joint-team is really just a gesture, but it's an important step to perhaps easing tensions in the longer-term.

But what if it also signals an agreement between both North and South Korea in terms of wanting to launch nuclear missiles?
