Is the Second Doctor (Vol. 2) going to only have three stories instead of four? That feels more like a cut back rather than an expansion. No, they just haven’t announced the 4th story.

My favorite line from this announcement: "Frazer had mentioned a few times that he would love to share an adventure with Louise Jameson"

Jamie and Leela. I am so excited for this after the wasted potential of the Krelos/Telos story. Yes, but oh! What a shame it's not in a full-cast story.

Really hope we get some continuation of Zoe's story from the CCs like we had with Steven's in the original First Doctor boxset Zoe's story was already completed, though. The Steven story was cut short by the end of the CCs as a monthly range. Not really, she and Jen were on the run from the Company at the end of Second Chances. With Steven's story, the situation brought about in the War to End All Wars is satisfactorily concluded by The Locked Room.

She also couldn't remember anything at that point IIRC which was the conclusion, just not a particularly upbeat one.

It was left ambiguous, as the last line is an excited "I remember-" before the credits roll.

First thing I thought when I saw expansion of the range was "Oh good. More Companion Chronicles this year." Cue mild disappointment. Anyway, I guess Big Finish has kind of recast the 2nd Doctor now and Jamie & Leela!

Yes, I can understand the confusion about the title and the contents and structure of the set. The headline isn’t great and I think the article is quite messily structured. It took me a couple of reads to fully understand it all; I didn’t think it was completely clear at first glance.

It feels like BF have more to announce, but I'm quite happy with this announcement. Of particular excitement is Hines playing only the 2nd Doctor in a release, which feels like a big step in many ways, and of course, Jamie and Leela finally getting a proper meeting.

Unless I'm missing something (always a possibility) I don't see how the range is expanding whatsoever, it merely seems to be continuing with the same amount of content as it was regularly producing already I know, for a minute there I was hoping the CCs might be coming out twice as often, but apparently this must mean they're expanding what they're willing to do with the range? I'm indeed glad such an expansion has made room for stories with Carole Ann and Louise, or stories early in the Second Doctor's career.

While part of me was hoping that expansion meant the Companion Chronicles was going twice yearly I'm pleased that the range will continue until at least 2020. Hopefully the same will apply to it's 'companion' range - The Early Adventures.

I'm going to go against the flow here, and say that I'm happy enough with the current release schedule. I thought that the CCs had grown pretty tired by the time they were 'retired' with only the odd release being esp memorable.
Since brought back as 4 releases per year, every single story has been absolutely top notch. I can't help but think that the slower release schedule has something to do with this.
I also enjoy the mix of EAs and CCs and the different types of storytelling this mix allows.

I am very happy to see a CC with Carole Ann Ford. I was very disappointed when she wasn't in the last set. With William Russell retiring it leaves her without the potential of doing Early Adventures, so I'd like to see her involvement in the CC's and Early Adventures increased. I'd like to see more CC's with Susan set in season one rather than in the season zero prior to An Unearthly Child, but I have a feeling that BF feels that the new First Doctor Adventures cover that period of the series. Here There be Dragons was so good, and I think that there's still potential for more stories told from Susan's point of view while she was on the TARDIS with Ian and Barbara.
One thing that I will say is that I hope that they start making the CC's more like CC's again. The last couple of sets since David Richardson left have kind of felt like EA-lite rather than true CC's. I want more framing sequences and more stories that concentrate on the companion being central to the story. Fields of Terror for instance was told from Vicki's point of view, but she was almost superfluous to the plot other than needing to be there to narrate.
I'd also echo the wish for CC's with other Doctors' companions. I saw Leela on the heading and though we'd finally get a set to finish up her new trilogy that Nigel Fairs started and never got to finish. "Expanding" really was the wrong term to use there.

The Second Doctor, Jamie, and Leela! Wow! I love that Frazier has been asking to do a story with Louise Jameson. Everyone really seems to love working with her.

TBH, if that trilogy was going to be anything like his first Leela trilogy, I don't mind only getting the first instalment. The Time Vampire was one of those mindscrew stories that was style over substance.
