I finished it a bit ago. What an amazing sextet. They pulled off six very dissimilar stories that all seemed to provide a strong cohesive timeline. 10/10

1.2 : The Grel Invasion of Earth
Oh this is just so good! I love affectionate parodies of 'Doctor Who' done right (Iris Wildthyme Vol 2 is the benchmark for me, a must-listen for any DW fan!) and I thought this one was just about perfect. And richly detailed in its parody, all the way from the mumbling 'greloid' ending it all with a watery plunge and Jason's twisted ankle, to the ending with Benny closing the door on him, with love and sadness. But after a whole ton of laughs first.
Brilliant.
And where did that song come from? I'm guessing one of the early Benny series I haven't heard yet.

Good fact: The Grel Invasion of Earth uses the Adventure Is My Name theme.

The interviews disc on the first volume is a thing of wonder. It goes beyond the usual interview guff, and the interview subjects inject so much information and personality. It was interesting to hear from Jacqueline Rayner about the less successful aspects of the early years, like Dragon's Wrath and having arcs run though audios and now out of print books. I love how it's presented as a documentary presented by Brax, his rich, plummy voice making it stand out. His last bit, where people sound appallingly young, is a marvelous line. I really must ask Lisa Bowerman about Summer of Love.

Yes the interviews actually had depth they were excellent The archive interviews from the very start of the range were a treat, a look at the character of Benny from the POV of 1998/1999. Lisa has such easy chemistry with everyone. It feels like the interviews on the Torchwood Outbreak release, far more freestyle. I'd love for the Main Range and box set interviews to be like this, it's more interesting and entertaining to follow along.

Just finished the interview on the second set and to summarize these sets: they make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and sometimes that’s all you need.
