I am very pleased that Big Finish gave the Sixth Doctor a proper regeneration story and I liked the way they structured it even if I would have preferred something a bit more epic.
Now I would like Big Finish to give us a ending for the Seventh Doctor. Telling the story of how/why he ended up with the Master in snake form in a casket at the start of the McGann movie.

I'd argue that The Valeyard's shadow cast over Six's life was pretty epic, but I think anything else would have done disservice to the ongoing threads.

I liked it well enough, though the actual regeneration was a bit Night of the Doctor-esque. I loved the Seventh Doctor interfering though, that’s very suited for his incarnation.
My main issue was it was less a celebration of the Sixth Doctor’s era and more a celebration of Big Finish’s Sixth Doctor. Personally, I’d have gone for Peri & Frobisher, Charley, Flip (with or without Jago & Litefoot) and Mel. I wasn’t too keen on the use of Constance being new in the set, though the story itself was great.
A lead-in to The TV Movie with the Seventh Doctor, the Master and the Daleks could be something special.

I don't know if you can really do Six justice without him wrestling with his soul, so there was always going to be some line up on that front. Making (Matrix) Six's final actions echo Eight's was a nice touch, weaving Six tighter into the narrative of Who. Well, to be fair, Six's time in Big Finish has been more expansive and Peri had only just been reintroduced, so you can understand why Big Finish decided to encompass his era going forward post- Trial. There are some fans who don't know who Froshiber is, as well, so it's understandable they held off on him and I'd argue that Six wrestling with his negative traits - his arrogance and ego - were a huge part of the story and that TV Six was well-represented, as well as how he moved on since then.

Colin was up for it, so why would BF not have done it? And I’d argue the BBC gave him his ending. It sucked, so Big Finish gave him a better one. I think there's an argument in not lining everything up and letting some of the mystery stay or not being definitive about things - particularly when Colin was relucanct for years to do a 'final' adventure and Big Finish skirted around his timeline.

I can definitely see that. There is something rather intriguing about an incarnation whose beginnings we don't really know about (re: Eight to Nine before Night was a really good use of negative space). That said though, Sixie has become somewhat Rasputin-like over the years in his distraction of death. It's taken four nails in the coffin to keep him down (so far). He's perished through: - Plain simple head trauma;
- Intense aging;
- Radiation poisoning, and;
- Breaking his contract with Death.
(Which story does which, I'll leave up to fans. ) I don't think any incarnation can claim as many curtain calls as him, he's had quite the innings (BF as well, they're celebrated in both Spiral Scratch and Time's Champion). While it wasn't quite what I wanted (and *pfft*, what do I know?), it's fantastic that after almost thirty years, Colin Baker got to perform it and Nick Briggs write it. Well-acted, well-written and well-produced. It's a release that everyone involved can be very proud of. That's the main thing.

It plugs a hole with an easily accessible release. I do think having a more conventional box set packaging alongside the Limited Edition packaging might be more appealing for those with less of a budget but who prefer CDs. And those with CD on the shelf OCD.

And those with CD on the shelf OCD. I think your underestimating how small of a company Big Finish really is, though. The Light At The End was always going to do well in an anniversary year, but it's the exception to the rule and we know that sales of the Novel Adapations were variable, despite a strong start. I don't think it hurts for Big Finish to go all-out on a physical release for a big event (where most people will buy the download) and have the download be the cheaper alterantive.
