That's the problem with first past the post I mentioned it as being vastly underrated and others talked it up too but since you can only choose one, Season 15 could be EVERYONE'S second fave but place nowhere in a poll.

It was between Seasons 12, 13, and 14 for me. I decided on Season 13, though, for many of the reasons stated above. It's Hinchcliffe at his best. Of any of the Fourth Doctor's seasons, I revisit this one the most. Season 14 is a pretty close contender, though, and so is 12. I adore Seasons 16 and 17 for introducing Romana, but besides City of Death, neither of those two seasons have very many stories I keep coming back to like Tom's first three seasons. I didn't hate Season 15, but I don't really remember it all that well. Horror of Fang Rock was amazing, but the rest of the stories I can barely recall. I'll have to do some rewatching over the summer, I think.

This was a tough one and a very close call between 13 and 14; two seasons packed with memorable stories and I almost, almost went for 13 on grounds of variety+consistency, where only 'The Android Invasion' isn't of the very highest calibre imo and even that's an enjoyable story. But in the end, I went for 14. 'The Talons of Weng-Chiang' is easily my favourite 'Doctor Who' of all time and that tipped the scales, with 'The Robots of Death' also in my top five. And 'The Deadly Assassin' is a superb story in its own right, plus a huge amount of what we now take for granted about Gallifrey and the Time Lords was created right there by the genius of Robert Holmes - if he hadn't already invented it in an earlier story. In the Golden Age, he was the real master! I'd also like to give honourable mentions to seasons 16 and 12: I love the Key to Time arc, varied, colourful, humorous but never OTT, a Quest where the first four segments are excellent and the rest still has much to enjoy. For me season 12 stands on just two stories: 'Ark' and Genesis'. The rest of the stories don't compare with those - but honestly, how could they? Those two are legends. (And I like season 18 from E-space onwards and all of season 15 too. Which leaves - yes, the other one, and I will leave it if you don't mind and just be happy I can watch 'Shada' at last! )
