I enjoyed the core plot of altered timelines as well as some great dialogue, but I felt it never really got going. Still a massive improvement over a pretty poor run of Seventh / Mel / Ace stories...

I wonder if this is to do with the fact that a lot of the plot lines are still to be resolved that will be developed across the trilogy. The reason 'for' the manipulation of the timeline is never really discussed or how/why the Doctor becomes aware of it. The reason for the base on Mars is also not really developed either. Then there's the ending with Mel, which leaves a few loose ends to tie up. On its own, I agree that the story could be slow, but if part of a wider narrative, it would fit just right. I also think the pace in this one is slower for character development - the supporting cast are more fleshed out than normal.

Well, this was great! Thanks again for the recommendations! I really enjoyed it, great alternate history story, exciting writing and great acting. And none of that clowning about business. Well worth it.

I've mixed views about this one.
On the one hand I like the alternate timelines, and the multiple parallel stories. I also think that the Doctor, Mel and Ace are captured well.
But I found the opening very confusing. I'm never a fan of being thrown straight into a story, so much so that on listening to it I think I've inadvertently tuned into episode 2 not episode 1. I think that opening could have been made more accessible.
However I did like how the story unfolded. I was also intrigued by the ending.
Some of the Russian accents seemed rather agonising, to me anyway.
I also found it strange that Ace said her name was Dorothy. Even in the 1960s I'd have thought she'd want to introduce herself as Ace.
But generally thumbs up, albeit with some provisos.

Totally enjoyed this and I'd certainly put it up there as one of my favourite McCoys. On occasion McCoy can't really pull of anger but this time he is 100% convincing and that ending is certainly very intriguing

Just finished listening to this. Very enjoyable story. I really enjoy having Ace and Mel in the same story (even though they don't interact much in this one). And the plot really kept me interested the whole time.

What's the reason for the replacement cover?

What's the reason for the replacement cover? The Spine wording on the 1st one is ever so slightly out of alignment compered to the other Releases .

Thought this was really good. Excellent script lots of standout elements in thw whole production but if I had to pick one it would be McCoy's performance.

I wonder what you had to pick with McCoys performance? I am normally very critical of him, and I was a bit apprehensive about this release, but I actually found him quite good in this. He certainly did not grind on my nerves.

There have been occasions when I haven't been too fussed on McCoy's performance, sometimes when he has to portray the more passionate side to his doctor it doesn't come across all that convincing to me but on this occasion I felt he really conveyed the Doctor's passion and anger.

I did like this one although when I got to episode four, I was a little shocked we were almost at the ending. It's the rare four parter that could have been a six.
