Thinking about this and being totally shady so call me out on it, but do we really trust Nick to write a complex sci-fi drama about the human condition? Most of his writings tend to be rather... bleugh for me. At his worst he can be very repetitive, pulpy and derivative, although sometimes this plays to his advantage. The first Dark Eyes, whilst nothing groundbreaking, its never anything less than entertaining. I'm very fond of series 2 of Charley Pollard for the same reason and Colin's swan song is surprisingly pleasing. He really hits high though with the War Doctor finale and Creatures of Beauty, two of my favourite plays of all time. I completely agree with those last two. I was completely blown away when I first heard Creatures of Beauty, but then I was also relatively new to the world of audio drama and I found the use of the medium in this extraordinary. Yes, some of Nick's work can be safe, but I rarely find it bad. And when he's good, he can be exceptional. (Not many can write a better Dalek story than him, although many are just as good.) I'm looking forward to this release, if we ever see it!

This is the weirdest thing. A vague title, generic artwork and summary, no cast information, no plot details, no production credits (the website doesn't even list a writer anymore), and a release date that's been pushed back. Why bother promoting/selling something that doesn't (for all practical purposes) exist?

Why bother promoting/selling something that doesn't (for all practical purposes) exist? Maybe they’re just thinking if they remove it from the website for the time being, they’re just going to get inundated with questions about whether or not has it been cancelled? At least this way, they can just say it’s “Coming soon...” Whether that means in our lifetime or not is another matter entirely.

They (presumably) sold a fair number of copies in the Originals bundle, so they're in rather a difficult situation if they admit it won't materialize anytime soon.

There's only one real stinker with his name on it that I can think of(I'll give you three guesses) but otherwise He's an excellent writer with some fantastic stories under his belt. I look forward to the human frontier, hopefully he gets to really explore and push his story to it's limits.

1st Twitter Tease Regards mark687 I have no clue what this means, but it does have my attention! The code sections are written in 'pigpen' and it says
WE LOVE STORIES [image] WITH HUGE APOLOGIES TO ALIEN AND MOON AND OF COURSE RON COBB
'Semiotic standard' refers to a coding standard (pigpen in this case) and the image is a list of sections on the starship we know is the setting for this series, so I think the message refers to his spaceship design work and obviously that for 'Alien' in particular. Is the 'Human Frontier' ship design partly inspired by the Nostromo ??

Synopsis doesn't really give much away.
My prediction - the twist will be that the future humans have evolved a 3rd ear on their forehead and the title is a pun - it's all about the Human Front Ear

I swear I’ve heard that premise for a TV show or movie or something. Anyway, I’m still very excited — I love Big Finish’s storytelling.

Well, this sounds very interesting. At least it intrigued me enough to pre-order. I am curious how they are going to play it.
As for if this has been done before- wasn't there a novel by Arthur C. Clarke with a similar premise?

Although there the colony was 'seeded' by a slow ship which carried only embryos/DNA types (forget which) and then 'created' the colonists on arrival. And the fast ship later arrived to find the colony thriving, but that ship was only doing a stopover at the colonised world on the way to their own new world.
{Spoiler} Though it did get a bit 'Mutiny on the Bounty' when it was time to leave the beautiful planet and sail on And yes there was love and intrigue as well as the sci-fi. But that applies to most sci-fi doesn't it?

I am curious what Nick Briggs has come up with. Let us hope it will be one of his good ones...
