Hey everyone,
So....the inevitable unoriginal question is here: Who is your favourite Doctor?
In all honesty: I love all The Doctors and find it difficult to really pick a favourite. I do have issues with Seven and his modus operadi and feel that his character doesn't feel consistent with The Doctor as we'd known him beforehand.

Fifth Doctor and Seventh Doctor. The Seventh Doctor is the first in-depth exploration of the morality of time travel, particularly that of the time traveler. Kind of helps he was in over fifty novels, and the writers were allowed to go deeper and broader.

I've had to overcome a large amount of negative baggage regarding the 7th Doctor - his first TV season was so bad, to me, that I pretty much gave up on the show. I never saw the final season and a half until many years later.
Tom was my first Doctor and will always hold a spot for me. Peter, he was fine but too bland to be better than Tom. Then Colin came along and I really did like him, probably as much as I liked Tom. The TV-Movie came along and I didn't like much except for the TARDIS set and Paul's performance as Eight.
Now days, factoring in Big Finish, I think I like Colin best, then Paul, then Tom.... and everyone else close behind.

8th. Always.
Only one story I didn't like and he also has my three favourite companions from any DW platform (Lucie, Charley and Liv) on his side. McGann is the Doctor to me, everything about his performance is wonderful.

McGann with Capaldi and Hartnell tied in a close second place.
Though I'd probably say Troughton/Tom Baker are the 'best' doctor's for the influence their performances and storylines had on the franchise.

I think I've given up on having a favourite Doctor.
At one time this was very clear, it was Tom Baker followed by Sylvester McCoy.
But along came BF and Colin Baker and that combo has been just awesome. Sylvester McCoy's Doctor in my mind should work really well on audio, but for some reason it doesn't, his Machiavellian ways should I feel have a perfect platform in BF, but he just comes across as either manipulative for all the worst reasons or just ordinary (or as ordinary as The Doctor can be), I wonder if hearing some narrative direct from The Doctors mind would help with this, I just think the right way to tell stories about Sylvester McCoy's Doctor hasn't been found.

There was a time when I'd have said Tom Baker in a heartbeat. He's probably still in the lead, but they've all been so great at Big Finish that it's impossible for me to pick one definite "best"

Eighth! And Sixth!
Which isn't to say I don't enjoy the others, cause I totally do.

If we are just working off TV appearances, I have been all about the 4th & 2nd Doctors for decades now but I've got to be honest, 12 has surged to the front of the line for me. Capaldi is just incredible. I hope he has at least 2 more series in him. Anyway, I have to break this down into two parts. TV on its own and TV & Big Finish combined. So list 1-TV Only:
1)12th Doctor 2)2nd & 4th Doctor-tie 4)1st Doctor 5)11th Doctor 6)6th Doctor 7)5th Doctor 8)10th Doctor 9)9th Doctor 10)7th Doctor 11)3rd Doctor 12)8th Doctor
List 2-TV & Big Finish Combined:
1)12th Doctor 2)6th Doctor 3)8th Doctor 4)1st Doctor 5)2nd Doctor 6)7th Doctor 8)4th Doctor 9)11th Doctor 10)3rd Doctor 11)1oth Doctor 12)9th Doctor

It's a tie between David Tennant and Paul McGann for me. McGann's movie was okay but he had me sold as the doctor when he danced in those new shoes that fit perfectly!

TV and BF Combined
1. 6th 2. 8th 3.10th 4.7th 5.12th 6.4th 7.2nd 8. 9th 9.5th 10.1st 11.3rd 12.11th
To be clear I enjoy the majority of every Doctor's stories bar 11th's which have way more misses then hits IMO

1. Colin Baker 2. Paul McGann 3. Pat Troughton 4. Peter Capaldi (a third series as good as his first two and he may be as high as No. 1) 5. William Hartnell 6. Matt Smith 7. Chris Eccleston 8. Tom Baker 9. Peter Davison 10. Sylvester McCoy 11. David Tennant 12. Jon Pertwee
Based on TV, audios, comics and books up to 2005 (only buy the odd Nu-Who book)

I'm not a man of favorites, so I have a hard time with these things. I think I can safely call Tom my favorite, though I've a much harder time placing the others. Chris Eccelston is probably my least favorite (though I really should rewatch Series 1 in its entirety before I'm certain,) followed by Peter Davison, though I really don't dislike any of the Doctors. We Whovians have been quite blessed with our lead actors.

My number one is a three way tie; Troughton, McGann and Smith.
In second place, all the others!
I adore them all, they are all the Doctor and are all marvellous.
