The Enchantress of Numbers by Simon Bernard & Paul Morris. Well, that was really rather outstanding, wasn't it? In fact, it was just about a perfect story. I'm amazed Bernard & Morris have not written more for the 4th Doctor as I think they are the perfect writers for him. If there were twin love children of Robert Holmes & Philip Hinchcliffe, it would be Simon Bernard & Paul Morris. More from them please. I am indeed the secret love child of Robert Holmes and Philip Hinchcliffe. Paul was grown in a lab though.

The False Guardian by Guy Adams. Well, that is an obscure character to pull out.

I'm only two stories in to this set (I like to savour not binge!) and I have to say that the two I've heard are bloody good. The new companion for the Fourth Doctor seems to be working really well in these stories. By the end of the second story you could almost believe than Ann Kelso has been a companion of The Doctor for ever as their dynamic is so good. Of the two stories I preferred The Sinestran Kill, which was just brilliant, and an audio story I really enjoyed listening to. Although the second story (Drashigic Park) was very good too, if a bit predictable... and I would have left K9 in the TARDIS and not had him spend so much time "charging"! But two really good stories to start this new series of 4DA's off is a good sign... I will do the next two parts at the weekend.

Really enjoyed the first three stories in the set (been waiting a long, long time for a new Drashig story!). I'm waiting until the release of "8B" before I listen to the fourth story, given it's part 1 of 2, may as well listen to it as a new four parter, but this has certainly been the strongest run of Fourth Doctor Adventures for a long time...

Agree. 100% {Spoiler} Made no sense to me so the intended thrill was lost on me. But I guess I am not the huge fan some here are or those from BF. Never seen The Daleks' Master Plan from which these characters were taken. Then again nor have many as most of it has been lost! Very weird idea from BF.

I think weird was the intention. ... and there's nothing wrong with some divergent thinking every now and again to keep us on our toes.

Considering how often Doctor Who drinks from the same well, it is nice to see the less traveled areas of the show's history revisited.

Maybe, but for those of us without a clue as to the references it was all a bit 'so what'. Tbh for me this boxset ended on a bit of a whimper.

Pretty much. {Spoiler} Although we do try to help people by name checking him and giving the tiniest history earlier in the episode...

I thought the ending twist was brilliant and {Spoiler} (with Kemble & the Vargas) confirmed what I'd hoped from 'Masterplan' being in the S8 title. And yes it did send me off to find my 'Lost in Time' DVD and start a recon rewatch! (*thinks* If they're going to be referencing characters that obscure, I'll need a refresher course to keep up with the experts )

Just listened to episode 1, The Sinestran Kill.
A solid 5/10 for me - perfectly good average Doctor Who.
I liked the idea of mixing Doctor Who and a police procedural. It did it better for me than the recent main range The Hunting Ground.
But I found the plot rather underwhelming, and to be honest too light (not light in theme, light in content). I know it was a short audio (less than an hour I think), but I still wanted more.
On the plus Tom Baker, Jane Slavin and Frank Skinner were great to listen to.
And I am very encouraged by Ann as a companion. Looking forward to the rest!
