Wish I could be there. Don’t think it will work out this year.

They originally had me scheduled opposite the Intro to Big Finish panel, but they were very cool about when I asked if they could shift me around.
Really looking forward to this con, as always.

Looks like Paul is out and Sophie is in. I was not expecting this at such a late date. I was even discussing with a friend that Sophie didn't seem to have any US convention appearances coming up.

Ingrid Oliver is another late addition (Sat/Sun only) as well as Tony Curran (Vincent Van Gogh).
The statement about Paul is "Due to A Personal Situation Paul McGann has had to withdraw from appearing at (Re)Generation Who 5"

I hope McGann's personal situation is some happy personal news rather than an illness or something within the family.

Email just received (it is also on the website):
--------------------------------------------------- Hello (Re)Generation Who Attendee,
This is the hardest email we’ve ever had to write. As a result of a string of last minute cancellations, we see no alternative but to cancel (Re)Generation Who 5. We want to apologize for this as we tried every way possible to move forward, but could not find a way to produce an event of the quality you have come to expect from us.
We will be working with our team to determine if there are any options moving forward.
Please note you will need to contact the hotel directly if have guest room reservations.

I'm extremely sorry to hear this. I assume that it means that both Tate and McCoy dropped? They could probably survive the absence of one, but not both. The show has always been very professionally run, so I am inclined to believe that the cancellation truly was a last resort.

Looks like things have turned acrimonious on the Facebook group. Lots of finer-pointing. It's understandable, but I'm sorry to see that because I do love the community and it's disappointing to see us this way.
I suppose we'll never have a complete picture of what happened, barring some leak from the inside.
It's possible that the con will bounce back from this, but it has to be a huge hit, both to their finances and their reputation. I suspect that it's the end.

That's the first bit of good news I've heard about this all week. We still plan to be down there for the weekend though, we've turned this into a general Maryland/DC family trip. My wife is still trying to connect with any other con-goers who might be in the area. I'm glad we'll have a chance to meet salvage a little bit of Regen.

Just wanted to give an FYI in case you didn't see this. He updated the post. It looks like he had to abandon the idea because the hotel messed up the booking.

Yes, unfortunately Peter's plan was foiled and they cancelled.
Cat Smith has mentioned that she is planning of live streaming the show she was going to do. I don't have any details about that.

Fandom Spotlight has published a couple of articles about the cancellation:
Seems like an unfortunate state of affairs, and doesn't bode well for the future of that particular con.

Thanks for the link. That reporting is (unfortunately) consistent with what I've been reading. I'm sorry it ended this way. Maybe a core of ReGen staff will reform around a new convention at some point down the line, but the Regen Who brand itself is probably tainted beyond recovery.

She posted: ------------- Okay, so I know it's small consolation for the con being cancelled - but I was excited to play for you guys this weekend, and dammit, I'm still gonna. Saturday, 8PM (the timeslot I would've been on the mainstage), I will livestream for an hour via www.patreon.com/missnerdstiles, and if you've got a special request (of songs you've heard me play), I'll see what I can do. And I'll make it public, not just for patrons. Hope you tune in! Possible cameos by my cats! -------------

Peter David still has tried to do something. www.peterdavid.net/2019/03/29/announcing-minimegeneration/"At 7 PM tomorrow, Saturday, I am going to be in the lobby of the Bethesda Marriott North, 5701 Marinelli Road, Rockville, Maryland. I will have stuff of mine to sell. And I will be happy to talk to anyone who comes by and autograph their stuff. Please get word of this out since we’re talking about barely a day in advance. PAD"

Attended a little gettogether in Crofton/Gambrills. There were a whole bunch of folk there. Maybe 17 tables in the restaurant occupied. Cat Smith has a new update: UPDATE ON TONIGHT'S LIVESTREAM - I'm going to stream via Facebook, because Patreon is weird. SOOOOO tune in tonight at 8 (and if you miss it live, Facebook thoughtfully keeps it up permanently, so you can watch it later), at www.facebook.com/deadlightsgirl (and if you've got extra time to kill, go look in my videos and watch the Sweeney Todd thing - you will thank me). I've got a bunch of awesome music planned - not only the requests some of you gave, but a bunch of deep cuts that you'll probably never hear me play again! And a possible Gracie cameo (I bribed her)! I wish we could all be together (we will be again! I believe in us!), but for now, let's rock out virtual-style! See you later! Peter David has a new update: MiniMegeneration has caught a break. When we checked in, it turned out the presidential suite was available. So we took it. We are in room 950. So we will not have to congregate in the lobby. This also means that food is now back on the table, so if you want to bring something, it will be greatly appreciated. The festivities Begin promptly at 7 PM. Be here or be square.
