Yes, we are lucky enough to be one of several approved review sites so we do get most releases in advance. Massive awesomeness..! May I ask how early do u get them? 1 week/2 weeks? . Just curious is all Usually about 1-2weeks but some things we get only a day or so before or even the same time as it’s released.

I'm curious to see how you all land on this. I was pretty underwhelmed with the Tenth Doctor Chronicles release, so I'm in no hurry to dive into this one.

Got it downloaded and waiting to find the time to sit down and listen. Interesting that nobody has rated any of them in the poll yet.

I've only listened to the first 2 stories so far, but they have been excellent. Especially The Top Of The Tree. It's probably one of the most original stories we've had. A truly alien world which holds a unique danger for The Doctor and his companion. I never thought I end up liking Kazran Sardak so much after his two BF stories. I'm looking forward to the next 2 stories in this set.

Listened to ‘The Callander Man’, really good tale that felt very like a series 5 story.
Jake Dudman sounded uncanny as Eleven at some points

The Calendar Man was superb. Great story, the Doctor is well described and performed. The worldbuilding is nice and the villain is well drawn out. Riffs on the shows mythology a little and doesn’t feel out of place in Matt’s first series.

I finished the set and it was really good. As much as I loved all the new series Chronicles, this one was my favorite. That being said, there was something about False Coronets just didn't resonate well with me. I'm not sure why. I still thought it was a good story, it just wasn't nearly as good as the other 3, IMO.

The Top of the Tree was good fun, not what I expected from a Kazran story. Jake Dudman is great here, not perfect, but I think he sounds pretty much how I’d imagine Matt to sound on audio!

Listened to The Calender Man & Top Of The Tree, both very enjoyable stories & in tone with the Eleventh Doctor era, again Big Finish capture Matt's era perfectly they seem to do that with every Doctor which shows the strength of the writer's & the love, passion & enthusiasm of everyone behind the scenes.

All the stories were good. My favourite was The Light Keepers. Dorium is an intriguing character and the idea of people living and working inside a Colossus made for some great images. Plus bonus points for the use of the word "apotropaic"!

Excellent box set, each story has something enjoyable to offer, i particularly enjoyed The Light Keepers, Dorium stole the show & he shared such a fun bickering chemistry with the Doctor.

Anyone able to give me an estimate of just how much narration there is here? I'd assumed it was narration-only, but I see that there is a cast with Dudman being an essentially recast 11. Except he's also listed as "narrator".
(And speaking of that, is the 10th's "Chronicles" set roughly the same in terms of amount of narration? I'm not asking about 9th b/c nobody seems to be cast in the titular role, rather, there's Briggs narrating and other people cast in parts)

All three releases are the same format - they're basically audio books where the narrator plays all the roles bar one, and that one remaining role is performed by a second actor. So the Dorium Maldovar story in this box set, for example, has Dorium's actor saying all of Dorium's lines, and Jake Dudman saying everything else (with minor exceptions). So basically Short Trips with an extra actor and an hour long.

I would guess today's news is going to make full-cast Eleventh Doctor stories considerably less likely for the time being...

I would guess today's news is going to make full-cast Eleventh Doctor stories considerably less likely for the time being... Wouldn't go that far necessarily. Big Finish are nothing if not the masters of scheduling, and so far as I'm aware Matt Smith is still open to the idea of returning from time to time.

What a pleasant surprise. I did not expect much of this release. I had not listened to Dudman before, since his previous releases did not interest me. But then I listened to the trailer and got interested and bought this on a whim. This was actually quite good, some really good writing and stories and the voice acting was great. I especially enjoyed the stories with the tree and the Maldovarium. I am also not too fussed about the fact that it is not the original actor reading, for me audio is more about immersion and a good story and less about the performer (if it is performed well). So for example I also enjoyed the 12th doctor audiobooks read by Dan Starkey who does a great Capaldi impression. So, yes, this was very good work and better than some other things I listened from Big Finish recently, for example I liked this better than the Jackie and Metacrisis Doctor short trips (I had expected it the other way round).
