Sometimes Lady Luck will smile sweetly at you and events will transpire that a Big Finish sale will fall perfectly around payday. Such was the case with the Jago and Litefoot sale last month. Sometimes however, Lady Luck will smile sweetly at you before poking you in the eye, delivering a swift knee to the nether regions and running off giggling. Such is the case with the Companion Chronicles sale. Payday this month begins sixty seconds after the sale ends. Which means of the eighteen stories I am missing I reckon I can stretch to about eight or possibly nine on my budget. Which also means I am going to spend the rest of the week quietly torturing myself deciding which ones before rushing an order through at 23.58 next Thursday...

Well I gave in and bought the Sara Kingdom trilogy. Which ones are those? It doesn't actually say, as far as I can tell, what stories are related to each other.

What other Companion Chronicles are related to each other?

What’s the best of the best from this range? Particularly fond of Liz & UNIT, along with Ian/Barbara, non-whiny Susan, and anything 80s Who... and already got series 1, 2 & 4.

For Liz, The Last Post is great. For Ian and Barbara, The Rocket Men. In fact those two stories are near the top of the tree for the CC range in general. HIGHEST recommendation.

So I narrowed my proposed list of purchases down, trying to decide if this is final : Here There Be Monsters Empathy Games The Darkening Eye The Transit of Venus The Magician’s Oath The Stealers from Saiph The Pyralis Effect The Suffering The Sentinels of the New Dawn The Many Deaths of Jo Grant The Anachronouts Binary The Child Upstairs Luna Romana Starborn My choices are partly based on performers I like, partly on reviews, and partly on "completism". Input/suggestions welcome.

Huxley's story spans the odd duo of Jo and Turlough in Ringpullworld and Find & Replace. Leela's trilogy with The Time Vampire, Catalyst and Empathy Games. The Vault duology with Tales From...and Mastermind Zoe's saga spanning the whole length of the range The Beginning trilogy with Quadrigger Stoyn I'm sure there's others that I'm not remembering.

Likewise Transit Of Venus - it's a great historical, it's got Russ at the peak of his CC powers and it's an early Season 1 story which there ain't many of..

Well, of the ones you mentioned, I have all except Luna Romana, from the Quadrigger Stoyn stories. That's on my to-buy list for this sale.

Yes, Katy Manning really is a fabulous performer. I already own some of her other CCs. Can't get everything at once, I have to narrow it down.

Well, they'd be my recommendations - Transit and Many Deaths - with The Achronauts as well if you've liked the Sara Kingdom CCs before.

I have no money... Second Doctor Vol. 1 is £7.50... But I have no money... But it’s £7.50... Hmmm... Is it? I wish you are correct... I have been strongly considering the First Doctor Vol 1 & Second Doctor Vol 1 as a £25 bundle (discount already applied) from £25 each pre-discount price. 50% off each is £12.50 plus postage individually. 8 hours of listening (or 4 hours apiece) seems to make these top value though.

There are days I really wish BF had decided to bring in Tim Treloar a few years earlier so we could have gotten some full cast 3rd Doctor and Liz Shaw audio adventures.
